  • My $130 Apple

    First 180 mile round trip for tree purchase (IRS 2010 medical--Hey, an apple a day keeps the doctor away-- transportation rate $0.165/mile)= $29.70

    First two trees ($25/tree)= $50
    tax =$4

    Second trip for replacement (tree died) and additional trees= $29.70

    3 trees=$75
    tax=$6

    Toy tarantula to scare away birds and squirrels from the single apple which my husband declares is "his" apple $9.95
    Tax=$0.80

    Total $130.15

    Every other apple on the trees has been snatched by critters. The day after I applied the tarantula to my husband's select apple, all the rest of the apples were snatched! There for, in three season of bloom, I have but one apple, whose cost is $130.

    Good thing I justify this as a hobby, huh?

        Seems like it most certainly is.

        Joan: maybe next year you need to invest in some BIG bottles of hot sauce, applied liberally as the apples grow into decent size. Cheaper than you spicer.
