  • Do you shop at Whole Foods?

I've never shopped there, but read an article how the company is making huge profits. (Apparently some people call it Whole Paychecks.) Just wondering what the attraction is.

There is one here in Hingham, MA.

the place is expensive, but the attraction is, u're rich if u shop there.
    It really is sick.

but i just watched the paris hilton video, of her and her boyfriend smashing their car into a truck last night u can see it by going here http://www.TMZ.com

its just like that, the cashiers are young kidz who are like that.. and the shoppers are like them too.

the high prices are just to weed out the people with less money i guess and for high property rent and taxes cause they build stores in affluent areas

So pretty much thats their nitche market, and people they tailor too.

Re: Do you shop at Whole Foods?

I do shop there about once a month.

We belong to two food co-ops (we have to work so many hours per month or per year to be members) but there are some things I can get cheaper at Whole Fds because they're so enormous they can get bulk prices from the distributors. For example, we go through two or three pounds of Nasoya brand tofu in a given week. At my local Acme, it costs $2.49/pound. The co-op carries some no-name local brand that is as tough as rubber. Whole Fds carries Nasoya for $1.99/pound, but it's often on sale for $1.69

Now, if I can just figure out how to walk in, buy the tofu, and walk out.

I've never shopped at Whole Foods regularly, so I can't really say that much about their prices in general.

When I have shopped at Whole Foods, it was because I knew I needed a specific thing, or specific selection - like a lot of selection for seafood. My experience is that they tend to have a really good fruit/veggie section, and great selection of seafood and other meats. However, they seem to be more expensive in packaged foods and non food stuffs (which is why I tend to not shop there).

As far as being built is "affluent" areas, I'm not sure about their market nationwide - but the Whole Foods here is in kind of a weird little neighborhood that's more of a 'passing through to get somewhere else' than it is even close to an affluent area. I think they're just giving peole what they want - the feel or shopping at a co-op or somewhere that has lot's of organic and vegetarian items without having to actually do any work of a co-op.

I shop at Whole Foods semi-regularly. I find that many of their prices are very good for organic items. When they have sales their prices are VERY good. Of course, I come from an area where you have Akins or Wild Oats, both of which were fairly high. Whole Foods is a lot less expensive (well, Wild Oats started dropping their prices after the first year, must have been related to getting settled into the area).

We have to drive 4 hours to San Antonio to shop at Whole Foods, so it isn't something we do regularly. More like "we're going to Dallas or Austin or wherever, so let's stop here".
