What are your savings accounts APYs and what institution do you use?

I have SmartyPig and get 1.35% APY.

3.75% on my Rewards checking with Evantage Bank. I Hope Evantage does not follow the trend of other banks and drop the interest tomorrow on the 1st of the new month. **keeps fingers crossed**

They might drop it. I just found their website and it says those rewards checking accounts are "sold out".

I have a checking account with Bank of Little Rock which currently pays 3.75% up to $15,000 and a savings account which pays 2% up to $30,000. I also have a savings account with Capital One which pays 1.25%.

Those are great rates (for today).

I have smaller amounts of cash with Ally & Alliant Credit Union. Right now they are both right above 1%. I chose them both because they had a long history of higher rates (with no hoops to jump through). They weren't doing the teaser rates just to draw people in, anyway.

That said, I hadn't shopped around at all lately.

1.3% with Amex personal online savings...and I thought I was getting a good rate. Those rates mentioned above are crazy!

How do you guys like your banks? ie. Good customer service, no hassle access, etc..? When I was looking for a holdings bank I saw Ally was offering 2% but it received a good number of terrible reviews. Other high interest banks were the same way, or they weren't FDIC insured.

              That's too bad.

I always consider customer service/reviews very heavily. I haven't had any issues with Ally. But, that said, they have had a HUGE marketing push the last year. I wouldn't be surprised if they have grown rapidly - which always causes customer service issues. That said - I do everything online and have had absolutely no issues.

As far as Alliant CU - excellent customer service.

Your concerns are one reason I have avoided a lot of the other online banks. I am pretty particular. Ally had excellent reviews a few years back anyway.

I like SmartyPig a lot. I had only one problem with the funds not posting to that account when they were supposed to. I called and was taken care of right away. And it is FDIC insured. I make sure to stay away from that!

What are your opinions on Money Market Accounts? I never understood the difference until recently. Are they FDIC insured?

1.09 with Capital One High Yield MM. I remember when it used to be 3.25...oh those were the days.

I have had no problems with online banking with Evantage except, occasionally, the website is off-line -- but never for too long.

Indeed, I saw the "sold out" on the rewards checking, which is too bad, but it may keep them from dropping the rates.

I have noticed Banks/CUs with the highest rate for savings/rewards checking get a flood of business, then they are usually the first to drop their rates and no longer be the rate "Leader."

I guess Evantage can't afford to continue to offer the rate to new customers, but they may keep up the rate to retain the customers they have now. I will have to see what happens, but I am okay keeping the 3.75% for March.

It's interesting. AmericanNet Bank (Welcome To AmericaNet Bank) offers the exact same rates for both the Rewards Checking and Mega money market, as well as the same maximums for both. They are also FDIC insured, and "Sold out". I'll be keeping an eye out on both.

I went on CheckingFinder.com and they have some awesome rates. It makes me too nervous not having a local bank branch though. I'll stick with Chase for my checking account for now. I haven't had any problems with them except that their savings account APY is completely pitiful (0.01%). I'm really happy with SmartyPig, but I'm always looking out for better rates.

I find it interesting that those checking accounts are "sold out". It might be for the best though.
