The internet has made haggling so much easier. You can research prices in the comfort of your own home and then walk into your local store and ask them to match the best price you found. If they will, great. If not, you can just go home and order it online.

And in some ways, the internet has replaced haggling for that very same reason. With my iPhone, I can compare prices while I'm standing in the store. If the store is cheaper, I buy it. If it is cheaper online and the store won't match the price, I can order it right away. The Amazon.com iPhone app has saved us money quite a few times.

    * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
    * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
    * There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

Yes it has. In fact the internet is great in so many ways. I don't know how I survived without it just 15 years ago. In fact back in 1994 I bought my first computer and a guy at work told me now I can get on the internet. My reply was "What is the internet?"

If you don't already have a smart phone, be prepared. Getting one is almost like getting the internet all over again. Having it in the palm of your hand 24/7 is an incredible resource. Hardly a day goes by when my wife or I don't find some new use for our phones and wonder how we managed without them.

Stop it. Saying stuff like this is going to make me buy one. Wife just got a new job and they gave her a new Torch. I may have to play around with it.

I got my iPhone in February or March after researching and debating for months. Then my wife checked out mine and debated herself for a few more months before finally taking the plunge and getting her own over the summer. She is not a tech person by any means but she absolutely loves hers and now wouldn't give it up for anything. Being able to send and receive e-mail, search the web, shop on Amazon, take and send photos in an instant, scan barcodes right in the store to compare prices, play games, watch TV shows, shoot video, go on facebook, etc.

            Sorry to go OT.

Are you using your iphone apps for banking, paying bills, transferring funds from chequing to savings, checking investments etc?

I do have the BOA app and have used it a couple of times to do stuff on my account.

One of the built-in apps is a stock ticker and you can enter in your portfolio and check values, charts and news on any of your investments.
