  • Sucked into the crazy?

I'm taking next week off. Staycation.

Plan on doing the bulk of my Christmas shopping next week online. Mostly Amazon.

I see alot of hype about the Black Friday craziness that will ensue. Are any of you going to get caught up in it?

Personally, I think it's alot of BS. They get you to line up at the crack of dawn (in some cases at midnight), and then have a mad rush to fight over a few paltry deals. One would think the store owners are in the back watching the pandemonium on CCTV and having a good laugh.

I'm sleeping in on Black Friday and not going out at all.

I started a thread about this last week. I will be working that day, but most people here indicated that they weren't going, or if they did, it would be later in the day as to not get caught in the early morning mobs and crowds.

The irony of the people on this forum is they are consciensus about their money and realize they can still save money without fighting people in a line. Unless there is that one thing you just have to have (and you can pay cash for), and its on a deal that is over 50% off, then go get it and stand in line. Otherwise, stay put. I don't have any wants as I'm working to pay off debt first then I'll be in great shape to buy whatever I want.

      Good Luck - Dave

It would take a big heap of cash to get me to shop the day after Thanksgiving. I hate shopping. Being amongst hordes of people makes it that much worse.

My husband sometimes goes (he will wait in a long line - not risk being trampled at dawn - usually goes later to see what's left).

But, yeah, I have never shopped Black Friday and have NO desire to.

The problem is when there is a really good deal, it only lasts 5 minutes. To which I say, "Why bother?"

The store thinks you will not want to leave "empty handed", so if you miss the deals, you'll buy some of their other overpriced junk.

Statistically, this is probably true. But I don't fall into retailer's mind games so easily.

Black Friday is my favorite day to go into work. No traffic, dead quiet in the office, laid back environment. Just another reason to stay away from malls that day.
"I'd buy that for a dollar!"

Again, I'll be at the mall passing out coffee and doughnuts to the masses. I shopped on Black Friday exactly once. I'll never do it again.
