I have always had to work black friday, however this year I have it off.
So I figured I'll go with the family, I'm going for the video games for cheap, and considering trying to buy
the 65" Toshiba LCD TV at Walmart for $998 regular $1499 at bestbuy so what $500 savings. I know they probably have like 3 at each store, but it might be worth trying for. Walmart Black Friday Ad - Page 7
If not, oh well i'll save $998...lol

Steve your finances are ridiculously PERFECT, well done. I aim to be at that point in my near future.

Man, this joke still sounds good after a year.

So which part of my post do you find to be a joke exactly?
          Steve

          * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
          * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?

We don't have this in my country and I usually avoid such crowds. I'd rather go for sales throughout the year, than endanger myself by being in such huge crowds

I usually wander into the big box home improvement stores in the afternoon and browse. I usually pick up one or two things I've been wanting. But there is no way I'm fighting crowds and going out at 1am to look for sales.

I was hanging out at friends house last year on Thanksgiving night and drove home at about midnight. I drove past Walmart on the way home and almost got whiplash from the double take I did. The parking lot was absoutly insane and packed with people and cars. Normally I drive past there at night and its obviously a ghost town. It was surreal

Not your post but rather mine in regarding to only suckers use cash. The whole thing was meant to be a joke.

Hey, my Black Friday thread from last year got dug up. Well, I will be working in it again this year. No shopping or waiting in lines, but I found out today that I will be in fact working in the madness as I did last year. At least I'm working in the afternoon this year, so I should miss the bulk of the crowds and the craziness.

I'll shop around for a few things but only buy if the price is right.

And, of course, I'm talking about shopping on the internet. The closest I get to being in public on that day is sticking my head out the door for fresh air.

In the last six years I've gone to four black friday's and maybe spent $50 bucks total including food/drinks. The only meaningful things I remember buying is a $18 brief case from Sears a few years ago which I use to this day, a neck pillow, and $5 for the Dear John dvd. Best five bucks I've spent in a long time.

I sometimes drive around at 2am just because I get a kick out of watching people stand in the cold for crap.

                          No Thanks

Nope I will not be hanging out at any stores, for the life of me I do not understand why people do it

Just got back from Black Friday drive-by. It is crazy out there. Many stores such as Toy-R-Us and Best Buy had lines formed as early as 4 p.m. today even though stores won't open until midnight. To the folks with their door-buster ambitions, I salute them. That is some dedication and I sure hope no fools try to cut in line. I saw tents, portable heaters, and a little tail-gate party over Best Buy.

I am actually picking up a big TV over BJ's. That will be available since big ticket items are rarely taken. That will be my first TV purchased ever and will probably last for a very long time. Hopefully, it'll make it past 10 years like those old school TVs. WiFi TVs are great since I prefer internet over cable/disk, which I never bought. Netflix and Youtube should be good enough.

There is no amount of money that I could save that would make me comfortable sitting in traffic/lines/masses of people. I would have a panic attack. To each their own!

                                Well,
It's getting to that time of year again, so I felt it appropriate to dig up my old thread and ask what everyone will be doing for Black Friday. Is there anything out there that you deem worth standing in line for at 3am?

                                Personally,
I'm going to go out in the woods and hang my tree stand. The first day of deer season is the Monday after Thanksgiving here in PA.
