How much do you spend on a cat per month?

Where does the money go?

I have five indoor cats, and I spend about $100 a month on them.

I have one outdoor cat, with three kittens, or have is relative, she eats the table scraps, and we buy kitten food when she nurses, feel bad since she can't hunt, payback for keeping the rodents down when not nursing.

Anyway total 6$ each litter. which is not much per month, maybe a buck?

I have one cat.

$3.29 for litter which lasts for a while. (I love Target brand clumping litter)
$3-4 for a bag of food. That last probably a month. I buy the cheap stuff and always have coupons.
$2 for canned food (4 cans) . one can will last about a week.

He's pretty cheap for not eating table scraps.

I have two cats.

I spend about $5 a month on food, every once in awhile I will buy them canned food as a treat (when they come on sale for 3 or 4 for $1.00). I used to buy them other treats, but they weren't big on them, the canned food works better.

I just switched to clumping kitty litter, so I don't know how that will go... before that I spent about $5 a month on kitty litter (whatever was on sale).

Vet fees occasionally... my one cat Shadow just got sick a month or two ago so she has costed us almost $300. Otherwise, I would say an average of $10 a month and even that is pushing it.

If you have to deal with fleas, that's a few dollars extra a month too.

I would like to second the opinion on using canned cat food as treats. My cats go crazy over salmon-flavored cat food (canned salmon guts ) However, my cats HATE anything with glycerin in it, so they would not touch anything with glycerin in it.

Over the last year I wasted about $50 on moist treats before I realized that they hate moist treats because it has glycerin in it.

Well we have four cats and we spend at least $100 a month on them. Not including vet care. That is just on cat food, litter and toys.

Estimates for cat care cost range from a low of $300 a year to a high of $1100 a year ($4500 to $18,000 over the cats lifetime). You can see the breakdown of these costs in this chart.
