  • Someone gives you $1,000...

Someone gives you $1,000 and tells you that you have to spend it that day or you lose it. What do you buy?

I would a new rifle. I know call me heartless for killing Bambi, but I like hunting fishing and being outside.

What are you blowing your grand on?

Good question! I find myself in save save save mode so much, I don't really think about spending it. I would like to buy a nice TV to watch movies. However, it may cost more than a $1000, but I would pay the rest with my own money.

I would buy new tires for my landcruiser, I still have good tread, but the tires are really old (1970 landcruiser--don't know when the previous owner bought the tires).

Easy kill -- Camera gear. There's a few lenses I need (want) to get, and also need (really!) to get a camera housing for SCUBA diving.

Guess I'd go buy a gift certificate at Lowes or put down credit at my neighborhood hardware store so that I could buy supplies for my back porch repair and painting. It's going to be a pretty big job and I don't know yet what supplies I'll need. Boring use of money from heaven. Maybe I need to loosen up a bit.

I love seeing the diversity of interests through people's answers. Act your wage... you could grab a 50 in. Vizio 1080p and still have enough for a net flix year-long subscription

Vacation. We've been wanting to go to San Fransisco for a while now.

Either that or pay for a couple of upcoming medical bills

I would fill up all three cars with gas, and stockpile groceries. It will take a lot of trips, but I will use all my coupons and have enough TP to last for a long time.
Or I would do an instant transfer towards my debt.

If I had to buy a thing, as opposed to investing it, I'd get a new refrigerator for the kitchen and a new freezer for the basement. We talk about upgrading them to new, energy efficient models but hate to replace the ones we have which work just fine, but I know it would actually save us money in the long run.

Good idea for spending your $1,000. I would have never thought of that, but it is a very practical way to spend it.

The fridge we are looking at is about $3000... (The freezer on the bottom type).

I like the 1080p and Netflix for a year, we could use a new TV in the bedroom.

We are low-tech folks when it comes to appliances. We might not be able to do the fridge and the freezer for $1,000, but I'm sure we could do at least one and part of the second.

As an outdoorsman myself I could see that purchase. I would probably end up being responsible with it though and upgrading something around the house like my 20 yr. old fridge.
