Re: Will you become a millionaire

Wouldn't it be a grand time if each of us receive windfalls, then have our pictures and biographies in the Forbes list of "Top 100 Millionaires from Internet Forums"?

To really be able to retire while holding real estate, you would hope that your rent is going up along w/ the value of the property, right? I've seen a lot of places where rents are pretty stagnant, even though home prices are sky-high. It's probably a factor of unusually low interest rates.

You can say that again. Many people will be millionaires without even trying because of inflation.

My goal is for my fiance and I to have at least 2 million in assets (not incl our primary residence) by retirement, which is ~30yrs away. I need to start saving a bit more, but I think we are close to being on target to reach that goal.

Absolutely! Hopefully by about age 50 or so (I'm 41 now). But, as others have said, that really isn't so much anymore. My retirement goal is 2.5 million or so.

probably, if i live long enough... spouse should get an inheritance...if something should happen i am a widow, i will receive alot of insurance money... so, maybe.. he may get alot of insurance money from me, also. i don't trust companies anymore.

It's amazing how situations change over time.

I spent some time with my brother this weekend at his son's engagement party. (12 hour road trip) We were sitting around chatting and my mind went back 15 years. Then I was the author of the best seller and well on the way to being the millionaire. He was the software publisher and doing it tough.

Today he's the multi millionaire. I'm working with people from over 40 countries helping them with their budgets. The millions may not have come my way but we've all grown and learnt a lot over the years.

We don't know what tomorrow will bring but we sure can keep on going.

I truly hope so, but it won't be through just regular wages and saving. We just don't make enough and in our area where we live, we will never make millions. I will hopefully have land in the near future that I can sell. That will help!

beebop, if it helps, I have never made more than minimum wage and my husband has been a low earner too. But we always saved 10% of what we made and in 1988 I started investing it in mutual funds. We have bought and sold land too, for profit. Good luck!!
