I see your point Steve, but I see mine too. Everything in moderation.

I am have tightened my belt so much that sometimes I feel the need to do something fun that Suzi wouldn't approve of. Not often because I wan't to retire someday, however last year mil passed just after retiring. Making me want to have some fun while i can. She spent alot of years working and saving for retirement only to miss it.

Absolutely! I agree 100% that you have to live for today while simultaneously preparing for tomorrow. It can't be just one or the other. Finding that balance is what we all struggle with to some degree.

I wouldn't call have $9800/mo income and $8700/mo expenses living below your means. At least not by much. Sounds like they need some major budget cutting to me.

I agree, and I'm sure that is partly why Suze denied the purchase. That means he is saving about 11% of income. While that's a great start and more than many people are doing, it isn't enough. And buying baseball season tickets certainly wouldn't help matters any.

It would be interesting to see how many people actually follow Suze's advice from this segment. Does anyone know how long it takes to gather/submit the info for the show? Just curious b/c if it were me & I went through the trouble to ask her, I'd probably have my mind made up already.

A lot of times, the caller will say that one partner wants to do something and the other partner/spouse doesn't think they can afford it and they've agreed to do whatever Suze recommends. Others really need a reality check. And some others know they will get denied and just want to be on TV and talk to Suze. I know someone who called in one time and she fell into that last group. She knew she couldn't afford what she was asking about but just wanted the experience of being on the show.

Well that answers a number of questions.

Yep. I know I've often watched the show and thought, "How stupid can someone be to actually think they can afford this?" In reality, though, a lot of them know they can't and just call for the heck of it.

It depends. Was he splitting the cost of the season tickets? $750 seems cheap for season tickets. I have gone to games (before baby) and I would think that seems rather cheap.

It was just for Saturday games.

Well, that'll bring down the cost of transportation & food ....

Honestly, the cost of gas & parking is the only thing stopping me from having full season tickets in Atlanta. Instead we've gotten "mini-packs " (8 games) each season since we've been here. I also wind up going to at least 2 games each season through social events (work, church, etc.)
