  • Ebay changes fee structure again

Ebay has changed their fee structure yet again.

Beginning March 30, auctions with a starting price under $1 will have no listing fee and a flat 9% final value fee.

Listing fees for other starting prices are lower and also have the 9% FVF.

Thanks for the heads up. They just keep inching those final value fees up!

Do you know what the fees were before this change takes place? I would prefer not to have the listing fees and pay a little more if it does sell. But you do have to wonder WHY they think they need so much money. Not like they have inventory, buyers (to buy inventory), shipping supplies and cost.

I guess bottom line is if you don't like their terms, then you don't list with them. I am surprised there isn't another site that hasn't given them good competition yet.

        Thanks for the heads up!

I don't know the specifics but you could look it up at the site as the changes don't go into effect for 2 more months.

I do know that they were giving you 5 free listings per month and the FVF was tiered based on the price. Now, the free listings will be gone and the FVF will be a flat rate.

In the summer is when I usually list some things and I did know what the overall percentage was (between eBay and Paypal). But I don't recall right now. You really do have to keep an eye on it or you might as well just donate some of the items and use it as a tax write off.

Frankly, I kept caring about their fees and changes a year or two ago. It's daunting how often they change into some new complex fee structure or rules for feedback or invent a whole new rating system etc. There is an uproar and then oh BAM another change!

              Ugh....nuts.
