  • I Want to take my Kids to Orlando. Any tips?

I would like to bring my kids to Orlando this summer in July for a week or so of fun. I have 3 kids boy,14 boy 12, and girl 8. We want to go to Discovery Cove and Sea World and Universal. And probably Disney though I am more interested in these other 2 places right at the moment. How best to plan this? We want to fly and get a nice hotel that is more like a place with a kitchen and at least one or 2 seperate bedrooms. The Nickolodean Hotel looks really cool but probably is expensive. I also think we want to go to some dinner shows, waterparks, as well. Any advice would be great.

You're looking for a condo-type place to stay? First-stop shop for me is always VRBO.com, I've personally rented over a dozen places through them. Specifically for Orlando area, try this. VRBO has a huge collection of rental condo's rented by the owners (generally not a large corporation), so they're very easy to work with. You can normally rent a place by the week, and most places will add/subtract a couple days to suit your plans. Prices range from rock-bottom to sky-high, so just take some time to look around and I'm certain you'll find something you like. Only proviso is that they tend to fill up quickly around peak seasons, so you often need to reserve a place 3-6 months in advance.

kork beat me to it. VRBO.com is the way to go. We always rent through them in Orlando and have also used them when we went to Vermont. You can get a 3-bedroom pool home for $100/night and a 2-bedroom condo for less than that.

Disney has a promotion going on right now called, "Give a Day. Get a Disney Day."
Here's what you do to get a free 1 day ticket to WDW (I cut this out of an email I received from Disney)
        1. Sign up and commit to an eligible volunteer opportunity at DisneyParks.com.
        2. Complete your volunteer service.
        3. Print the voucher we'll email to you once your service is verified. Follow the instructions on the voucher to redeem it by December 15, 2010. Then enjoy! (Or you can donate your ticket to a designated organization.)
