Re: What have you done this year that has saved the most money?
I've stopped buying clothes constantly! Exceptions are the coat I bought in early November, and the skirt, shirt, and new running shoes I bought with Christmas Gift Certificates earlier this month.
I've cut way back on buying coffee from Dunkin Donuts, I make it at home or drink the coffee from the staff lounge at work. I only buy from DD maybe once every other week. That has probably saved me $10-12/week.
I stopped buying body wash from Bath & Body works, and get the store brand instead (which is bigger, and costs a lot less). $12 for a bottle that lasted 1-2 months vs. $3 bottle that lasts 3 months.
I'm also spending a lot less money on gas -- because my work is very close to our apartment. I.e. I last filled up 19 days ago, and I still have about 1/3 tank of gas. I think I went through about a tank of gas a week before we moved, when I was driving between my parents house, my apartment, work, and my college (basically each on different sides of Rochester).
I stopped taking kickboxing classes which were $50/month for 2-3 days a week, and started exercising outside more, and I'll be joining the Princeton university fitness center for only $25 from now until the end of June.
We are also planning meals in advance to make them at home so we eat out less (Maybe now we eat out once every week-10 days or so, but we both really like eating out!)
