Had my closing Friday. Everything went smoothly. Closing costs were actually a bit less than the previous estimate, so I was happy about that.
Ended up with 4.875 for a 30 yr note. 20% down.
Financing was quite the challenge being self-employed. Every penny of the down payment had to be documented to the nth degree as to where it came from.
Appraisals were an issue - having valid comparisons was an issue. Trying to con me into paying upfront for items that should be paid at closing was an issue.
Funny how in these "desperate" times, nobody was discounting their fees - everything was full price - appraisers, inspectors, brokers, etc.
Well it's all over now, and in the end, am happy.
