some ideas of saving money on the wedding

hi everyone,
a wedding can cost thousthands of dollars but it does not have to be so.
here are some advices on saving money on your wedding:
1. if you do not mind in which seasin to get married try to find a date in a season that it is not highly popular for events in this way you can save a lot of money on the hall, musicians' photographer etc
2. shop in the internet for dress, rings, favoursit can save you a lot of money

I got married on a cruise ship with only a few guists, and had a small dinner party at a restaurant the night before. I bought a package, got married on the dock in FLorida on a beutiful day. I had it videoptaped and photographed. The images are stunning. The cruise was to die for since we upgraded to a balcony. I loved it. No haggling over bridesmaid jewelry etc. Even this small venture created fighting between me and my dad so a big wedding woul have had us beating each other.

Here is another option for photographs as well. If photographer uses digital camara, just ask him/her for the memory and get them printed yourself at wal-mart/walgreens etc.
If he has a film, you may get them developed at CVS or any other place for fraction of the cost.

another idea - don't have a wedding. LOL you don't need a wedding to make it official.

You can try to make some of the things you have to buy.

The hairband thing was made at a wedding I went to and they saved hundreds of dollars.

For us, it was infinitely cheaper to get married on a Sunday. (Along the lines of off season weddings, but this way you can have it in season for a fraction of the cost).

BTW, most professional photographers would never give you the digital files on photos. I've only heard of one instance of a photographer that sold the files. It was expensive, to say the least. My advice is DIY on the pics. (What we did anyway). Just one of those things we couldn't personally justify the cost on. & we have lovely pictures of the day.

I think this is slowly changing. For our daughter's Bat Mitzvah in September, we got the proofs (all 1,016 of them) on CD. No watermark or anything, so we are free to do whatever we want with them. It wasn't free, of course. We did pay the photographer, but in the past, the photographers charged just as much and only gave prints of the proofs, not the original files.

I had a small wedding at my house and we had a party there afterwards. It was very reasonable.

I had the "dreaded" BIG BEAUTIFUL CHURCH WEDDING (OMG, right?) and I enjoyed every part of it. I can't think of one thing that I would have changed. Of course, we only spent $8000 for an all day affair - with open bar and food - with 300 people attending, so there was not much to cut out of that.
