Re: new printer
We've actually had reasonably good luck re-filling our (latest) Lexmark. And they're usually about as cheap as you can get . . . However, to read about all our Lexmark experiences go to www.lexmarked.com (The fact that my husband has such a website tells you that our experiences haven't all be positive) Avoid Espon if you want to do refills because they don't have a new print head with each cartridge. (Basically if you mess up your refill you ruin your printer, not just your printer cartridge.)

Re: new printer
Oh, I forgot to add that if your printer cartridge that comes with the printer doesn't work or doesn't work for long (I think this happens A LOT) be sure to ask the company for a new one. That way you have two to be refilling instead of just one.
Okay, I don't want Skipper relying on just my advice (esp. considering I'm not sure I buy my own advice). What does everybody else think?

Re: new printer
I have an Epson, and I love it. But I learned the hard way about 'discount' inks. With Epson, you have to buy Epson ink or the printer will be destroyed. Epson ink is very expensive. Luckily, I don't print much.
I typed 'Printer Ratings' into google and found PC World's ratings on their top 10 printers. Maybe that will help?? (Not sure if I should post a link here or not.)
Good luck. Let me know what you come up with.

Re: new printer
One of the freebie people (Kimmie I think) posted a bunch of Lexmark rebates in the freebies section. You might want to check these out. (DH also comments on the joys of Lexmark rebates at www.lexmarked.com . . ."Proof of purchase?" "What proof of purchase?" . . .)
