  • Cell phone plans- what do they charge?

Wife and I have a plan with sprint-

Pay $125/mo for two phones which pool minutes.
She uses her phone A LOT
I use my phone to call my wife or take calls from my wife. Few others call me.

What is best plan for us.

    Home phone was $100/mo
    Cell phone is $125/mo

Goal is to reduce that part of budget to cheapest communication plan possible.

    Verizon?
Singular? Is this the same as sprint?
    ATT?
Local phone co (cincinnati bell in our case)?

    who else to consider?

we have alltell...70 something for two phones no LD, no roaming (very important as we travel a lot) shared minutes 'circle' free. (might be 5 numbers?) that includes all taxes and fees

verizon doesn't work in husbands hometown, so we wont use their service. (though I thought Iheard of a merger?)

we have no home phone. the only time I care is when on rare occasion we have a babysitter....usually I just leave my phone, well usually they have a cell of there own, but if not I leave mine.

We also have no texting (or rather 10 cents per if used) We have never gone over our minutes.

      $70/month including taxes/fees for 550 minutes with AT&T. It's share with rollover.

We have 1700 minutes rolling over because everyone we know is on ATT.

We pay about $40/month home phone but my DH wants it. So I have to "keep the peace".

We have 3 phones on our Verizon account. We have 700 minutes. It doesn't cost us minutes to talk between Verizon customers. We spent $86 a month. We do get a government employee discount of about 10%. We don't have a text message option.

We do have a home phone but it is bundled with our internet & cable and we don't use it for long distance. We need it because we have two children at home. It costs about $24 a month with taxes.

You might need to shop around.

We have AT&T "family plan" wife and I both. We pay $57 a month. We never ever exceed our phone plan. Also our land line cost us $20 a month with 500 minutes long distance anywhere.

I've used AT&T (I mean Cingular... no, wait, AT&T...) for the last ~4 years, a $40 base plan with 450 minutes, 5000 night/wkend (essentially unlimited), and rollover. I have an absurd rollover balance, because I normally only use ~300-350 of my minutes, but this is still cheaper for me... I get a 15% military discount though, so with taxes and fees (seriously? what a joke), the total bill was ~$39.

I say 'was', as that's what I had for most of the last 4 years. in May I finally moved up a bit and am now on the same base plan, with a 200 text/ unlimited data plan added on. Total is now ~$67 (incl. tax, fees, discount)
