I called Dish Network this morning and threatened to cancel my service. They immediately offered to lower the price of my family package from $19.99 to $9.99 a month for the next 12 months! No commitments either, if I decide to cancel next month, I'm free to do so. Just saved $120 over the course of the next year.

I just cut my satellite bill in half!

We have Comcast's limited basic service. With tax, it is $11.30/month.
We use Verizon DSL for internet. I think it is $29.95 plus tax.
So our monthly total is about $45.Steve

The family package has 40 channels, several cartoon/ kid related channels, animal planet, the science channel, etc. You can go to their website and search family package and it will show you all the channels.
We did have the Top 100 package, then when they raised the rates on it, I downgraded to the family package.
The only complaint I personally have is that I miss HGTV and CNBC (no more Suze for me), but my husband is happy because he has the outdoor channel!!!
I am still in the stone ages with dial up right now, my choices for internet are extremely limited where I live, no cable or DSL here! I am looking into satellite internet, so far the cheapest I've found is $300 installation and around $30 a month. Right now I pay $9.95 a month for dial up.

Each person has their own preferences. I pay $116 per month for cable tv with HD-DVR, phone and internet from Comcast. I have a year 2 year contract so they can't change the price and it is worth every penny. My company pays for my mobile phone, buy they do notice if I use a lot of minutes, so it pays to have the land line.
Plus, I have the DVR, so while we only usually watch at most 1 hour of TV per day, we can watch the shows we really want to watch. It all comes down to how you assign value to the services you subscribe to. If you don't like them, cancel them.
