  • Stimulas Question

My daughter and her husband filed a joint return this year with both earning more than 3000. They recieved their deposit, but it was only 818.00. Does anyone have an idea what is happening here?

Could they have hit the phaseout? If they made $165,640 in AGI, that would result in an $818 stimulus payment.

Are you certain that the deposit was for the stimulus payment, not a refund based on the return?

They together filed less than forty, he is in school and she works partime. She has student loans, but has most of it paid early. He is on scholarships.

They filed a joint return early and have received their refund. They are having trouble getting info from the gov.

Is it possible one of them didn't earn enough to pay the full 10% tax bracket? If so, that would explain why the amount is short....

They found out that if you pay less than 1200 in tax, you receive what you payed in less than 1200.

You may try the Economic Stimulus Payment Calculator in order to determine whether you qualify for a stimulus payment, we will ask you a series of questions. irs.gov/app/espc/
