  • Problem saving receipts

Notice how quickly store receipts fade to unreadable? Do you have any tips about saving them? Has it ever caused you a problem?

I save receipts from medical related purchases in case I might need them for taxes. I save receipts for large purchases and warrantied purchases.

Have you ever tried to scan them? That has worked well for me. You might also try to photocopy them and keep the copies in a file.

I use both methods for my monthly expense reports and have had no issues.

I know what you mean, but I've never run into a problem as a result. The ones that fade usually aren't the important ones.

Scanning is the best option because it doesn't cost you anything. Scan them in and keep them "filed" on your computer. Then you can print them out if you ever need them.

Oh, I know! The first year I kept receipts for tax purposes, I put tape over the numbers to TRY to keep them from fading, and I looked at them a year later and EVERYTHING the tape was on was pure white and the rest of the receipt was ok. I tape the receipts to a piece of paper to help keep track of them, keeping the tape off the lettering now, and I'm going to scan them when I get time.
