Last night I was watching the Suzie Orman show and they had an on going advertizement for a product called the Majic jack or something like that.

You pay 39.95 the first YEAR and 19.95 per YEAR after that for a phone with free calls anywhere in the US and Canada. You plug it into your usb jack on your computor then plug a phone line into it. You can use it on your laptop anywhere.

Was wondering if anyone has used it or knows if it works good?

Seems like the same thing as Skype but they're charging for it. I'd say there are free alternatives.

If It can replace a land line for 19.95 a year, it sounds like a neat allternative. I don't think you can use it for the internet, but I could maybe switch to satelite for internet.

Satellite.... DSL and cable is better if the option is available. And just as price competitive.

Internet phones can be used along with your regular internet connections, and usually at the same time. Of course, internet phones do take up bandwidth so if you're trying to surf the internet at the same time, you may notice some slow downs.

For computer-to-computer type phone calls, it can be made for free with software like Skype. Skype also offers premium packages that can connect to landlines. I believe you can also have a landline-like phone number.... But anytime you want to have anything to do with conventional telcos is when they will charge you for it.

If you want to shop around, I recommend looking into Skype and Vonage.

I pay around 65.00 at home with DSL and around 55.00 at work with no internet. I'm hoping this a way to replace both these bills.

If there are other options simular, please explain. I wonder if caller ID is possible with these options.

She is on cnbc from 8 to 9pm and other times later at night on saturdays.
