Why is it that we associate bigger with better? ve their little daughter I watched a freind give a huge stuffed animal to their daughter as a gift. While it was nice, the girl will never be able to do anything with it besides look at it because it is so big. I would think a smaller sized stuffed animal would have been better as she could have played with it and taken it anywhere she wanted. The parents seemed to think that their love was based on the size of the stuffed animal. Where so we get these attitudes?

I wonder the same thing? In my neighborhood I see parents renting these inflatable jumpies and inflatable animals announcing their child's 2nd and 3rd birthdays and it just makes me wonder ... ok, so now what are you going to do for their 4th, 5th, 6th etc birthdays?? You don't think these kids are going to be just a little letdown when they only get a cake and candles?

I think it's just another aspect of the commercialism that prevades our culture. Advertisers want us to think that big is good because they make more money when we buy big instead of what we really need.
