Cleaning question

I have two areas of my house that just really irritate me. My window blinds and my kitchen floor. My mini blinds absorb dust. They are a vinyl material and it actually absorbs into them. We live on a dirt road, so they are always dusty, but even after vacumming them off they still show the dirt. I have tried putting them in the shower and cleaning one blind at a time with a wash cloth with soap and water. Not only does this not do the trick, it is very time consuming. Anyone know anything that works? If there was a fairly cheap alternative I would consider trying something different.(I can't sew, however)

My kitchen floor has a pattern in the lenoleum. It has very small little grooves. Dirt gets in these grooves and the only way to get it all out is on my hands and knees. Does anyone know about waxing floors? Would this solve my problem? Anyone have any other solutions?

Soaking them in the bathtub? I've heard this works, but I'm like you and don't have the patience.

As far as the kitchen floor, wax wuld go into the grooves and since most wax is self leveling, you will get a smooth surface as a result. You would have to clean the floors really well prior to this, as the dirt in the grooves would of course still be there. The problem with waxing is that, usually wax isn't crystal clear so your floor would probably have a color change. It might be small but its something to consider. Also you would have to reapply the wax occasionally. And brand new waxed floors are as slippery as banana peels. You might go skating for a while.

I have heard that a true feather duster works to clean blinds, if you use it every day, so it doesn't get the built up grease and dust, but after the bathtub wash you can use it every day to avoid having to use the tub agian. I havn't tried it,cause I have no desire to use the bathtub method, even if it is just once time . I would guess that 2 minutes each day beats a bath a month.

Floors that have been waxed are less susceptible to scratches and dirt from everyday use. They also have a shine that improves their look. It is likely to apply wax to floors that do not have a urethane finish. I also have a wax flooring at my kitchen and it does not require any major cleaning.

I think the Euro Pro canister type Steam cleaner would clean out the grooves in the linoleum floor you describe. It might work on the blinds kept an appropriate distance since it might melt/bend/buckle blinds.
