  • That's a crock about the Internet and "energy company professional... All you have to do is have guidelines or an approval process. Certainly for those that don't follow the rules shut them down, however forcing everyone to only market "the way MLM has always been done" is not only a bad mentality it opens the door for a new competitor who does embrace the Internet to jump out of the gate. Everything you listed is easily managed by technology. I have news readers and scanners that look for sites that plagiarize or copy designs, even track my competitors, etc. No excuse in 2011 for a billion dollar a year company not to be able to accommodate savvy Internet marketers. They need to fire their CTO and start over from a technology stand point. This is a no brainer.

    • Bottom Line

The bottom line is that if you are skeptical, or have doubts, just elect another option. If an Ignite associate asks you to become an associate, or an energy customer it is just like any other advertisement (except far more personal). If you believe what they are doing is legitimate and of value, then sign on. If you do not trust in the product or business practices, then simply tell the person that discussed it with you "no thanks". As an Ignite Independent Associate I can honestly tell you that if it's not for you, I would rather you not be on my team anyway. Not to be rude, but I want to be associated with team players that believe as strongly as I do in the business. No experienced associate will ever pressure someone into becoming something or someone they are not. This is a business. I interview potential customers and associates just as I would for any business. If you're not on board, not qualified or an individualistic cowboy "that's cool". I'll keep interviewing until I find the right person to join my team. There are plenty of customers and/or associates (potentially tens of millions). I guess I can let a few pass on the opportunity and still be OK.

      • I signed up to be an associate for Stream Energy and even though I've "earned" $200 back, I'm have serious second thoughts. I really want to terminate my "membership" (not the correct word), but I don't know how to do it. Anyone out there done the same thing?

I plan to call and figure it out tomorrow but in the meantime, it's keeping me awake thinking about it tonight so I figured it wouldn't hurt to post!

        • I guess MLM is an alternative to cold calling and telemarketers, but it still sounds like a pyramid scheme.

          • Yea most of the time MLM is bad and most of the time people dont actually get what they were hoping for. But maybe if you are like a band or something and get a whole bunch of people to follow you then maybe it'll work

            • I have a question. I signed up to be an associate when I was 18. I am 24 now. I signed up under my uncle and when I first started he actually gve me a few customers and a few associates signed up under me to give me a little boost. . well things were good for a few months, then I got really busy with schooling and pretty much forgot about the ignite thing and stopped paying my $20 bucks for the website. I never actually terminated anything, just stopped selling. Would my "account" still exist even though I havent done anything with it in almost 6 years?

I haven't recieved any money from them since about 6 months after I signed up. more than likely because alot of my information has changed and I never updated them on it. what if an associate under me blew up and sold the mess out of some energy and signing people up? if they don't know where to send money because they don't have an updated address, will it just be on hold building up until I contact them?

even though it is almost 6 years later, would I still be able to get back into it under my old account?

for all I know I could have a bunch of money sitting there built up because they do not know where to send it.

              • I signed up as an associate. I found it difficult to have people switch and even more difficult to have people sign on as an associate. It costs $300, I earned back $200.

What kills me is the ongoing fee of $25/month for the website. AND I CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO CANCEL IT.

So, while someone may do well in this, for most people, we pay Ignite for the privilege of switching a few of our friends.

I would stay away from Ignite's MLM. I should have known better. They make it sound like it is easy to get $1000 in bonuses, but trying to get 3 people to pay $300 each is not easy. So I had 6 people switch and I paid $300 to join and $100 for the website so far, and I got back $200.

So I lost $200 so far. And more if I can't figure out how to get out.

                • Ignite is a legitimate business opportunity & and although anyone can do it, it isn't for everyone. I'm 20 years old from Philadelphia & have been attending these meetings for almost 2 months now. I signed up on 4/25/11 & since then have accumulated 15 customers & 2 associates, totaling up $600 in the process. Going into my 2nd month I will have spent $350 and it's definitely been worth it for me. It's a simple process but you'll only reap the rewards if you put the time & effort into it. If you work with your associates enough, soon they'll develop their own team & you'll be getting money for doing next to nothing. Call it a pyramid if you want, but it certainly isn't a scam.

It is set up like Amway and I do not trust it and wanted to see if any of you guys have had any experience with them that you can tell me about.

                    Thanks
i have been with them for several years and know many people using them. it is not a scam. there are several companies doing it MLM style, ambit, green mountain, cant think of all of them. so what if it is. it does not affect the consumer at all.

well as anything shows, there is rejection as well as acception. you have to work it hard at first, but your upline should be helping you. if not find someone else that is in a different upline at a meeting and get their help. it is worth it. maybe not for you, but dont knock it for others.

you should definitely call their customer service, provide your associate #, and even if you dont do the business, dont cancel. there may be money or not. u should check on it. your account is there, just not the website unless you start to pay for it again.

Ignite/Stream is the 4th largest energy company in the USA. This market plan is based on relationship building, that helps people save money on their energy bills and allows you to make money on people paying their energy bills. They are not a scam and are licensed by the Energy Commission which is regulated by the government.
