If you are what you drive, then I died of old age first and then had my youth second!

I'll warn you now, this is a sad and depressing list that only covers 14 years. BAH!

    1. 1970 El Dorado (used) - threw a tie rod whilst driving. not fun...
    2. 1989 Honda Civic (used) - carburator imploded. FYI, the CDC doesn't take kindly to people breaking down in their driveway on a Saturday night and then calling the tow truck guy Sunday morning...
    3. 1983 Honda Accord (used from parents) - electrical issues, cv joints fell out (while driving!), replaced the radiator, mutiple other issues
    4. 1992 Ford Taurus (used) - water pump died, head gasket blew, engine fire
    5. 1994 Mercury something (used) - head gasket blew
    6. ???? Chevy Nova (used from parents) - timing chain broke while driving, shrapnel trashed the bulk of the engine, had to have car towed 90 miles home...

let me just pause here and say cars 4, 5, and 6 all died within a 3 month timeframe. yes, you heard me: 3 cars in 3 months. I decided to go without for a while after that, but eventually had to get something.

    7. 199? Mercury Topaz (used) - could never get the title from the owner and couldn't register, had to scrap the car b/c it was illegal to drive
    8. 1987 Olds Firenza (used from parents) - too many issues to count
    9. 1996 Pontiac Sunfire (used) - loved it, but was due for a serious overhaul so I traded it in on...
    10. 2005 Ford Focus (gently used under warranty) - bright yellow, zippy, and barely sips gas!

Well I Feel better then Tina - - I have had more cars than I needed, but you win . Yikes!!!! Curse of the cars!

Of course I love that my dh jived me for not thinking ahead and getting a convertible before we were even married - like I had any clue we would have kids in just a few short years - he dragged out our engagement to eternity. To this day he's like, you should have bought a family car then. Whatever!!! LOL.

      1992 - bought a '81 Toyota Celica from my dad for $1500.
*This was the only car my family ever bought brand new and it lasted a good 18-19 years - 200k+ miles. IT bit the dust one day a few months out of college which was really good timing, since I Could afford to replace it, though I Would have driven it another few years frankly.

1999 - '92 Ford Mustang - price range was $5k but had been pretty much garaged and never driven - still had the new car smell. Loved it, but going frod from Toyota wasn't great. A repair monster.

2003 - '93 Saturn SL2 - had 150k miles or so but great little car
I was in denial I had to give up my convertible until my baby was about 3 months old - finally caved. Couldn't justify keeping 3 cars at the time since we just went down to 1 income, so sold my baby (the car!) - *sniff* - But sold it for $3k and bought the saturn for $1k from dh's grandma - knew it was a great little car - she just wanted something newer & hipper. We just needed an interim car I Could safely drive the baby in until we decided what we really wanted or could afford.

      2006 - '05 Dodge Grand Caravan

I LOVE this car. Dh always had wanted a van and his car is still new and great. I never wanted one, and in fact always admired parents who stuck with compact cars. Never got the whole SUV/van thing. Then I had a second baby. We got fed up with cramped cars so fast, though babyseats are not forever, maybe shortsighted, but I turned into a minivan momma. I LOVE that if I HAD TO I could live in my van. LOL.

Though it is FAR more comfortable for longer trips, which we do rathe roften, we rarely drive it because the gas mileage sucks. We took the compact for our last road trip instead. I drive dh's car more and more to work with gas prices rising. So it goes... It has been nice to have a bigger car for buying large things, moving, etc., it balances out the mini car my dh drives - best of both worlds really.

As soon as I can afford it I Am buying a convertible again though. My cars say I go for reliable over fancy and I put my family first though I really prefer a fun car - hehe. I am certainly not too proud to drive an old car though. So far the oldest cars have been by far the best anyway.

            1999 Toyota Corolla - new/used

I bought it "new" but it was a returned car by someone who I guess didn't pass the credit check or something and returned the car with 500 miles. What does that make it?

            So I'm boring and common?

I've never owned a car. I've always relied on public transit. Wonder what that makes me?

                    1. Chevy Nova- bought from a little old man who never drove it over 50 miles per hour. Was told to go out on the black top and put the petal to the metal. I was thrilled, mom was not. Drove it till the one day when the back of my seat fell off while I was driving down the highway. YIkes.

                    2. Ford Escort- used great car, no air conditioning. that was fine when i lived in Illinois, but sucked the big one when I moved to Florida.

                    3. Toyota Tercel -new, 4 speed loved it. Totaled it.

                    4. Toyota Tercel - new 4 speed, loved it . totaled it also

                    5. Chevy Cavalier- used, loved it. Drove from Il to Fl on three fill ups.

                    6. Buick Skylark - used, traded my cavalier to my mom for her Buick, I had two kids by then and needed the extra room.

                    7. Crysler Town and Country VAn - used, Love it, it has a built in DVD player and all the bells and whistles, sucks gas like crazy, but wouldn't trade for nothing else.

Lets see that is 7 vehicles in 22 years.

Oh crap there is one more car in there But I can't remember what it was. So 8 in 22 years.

97 Saturn SC2 - Loved it except in the snow!

00 Impala - Great car, miss it alot not enough room for us & 3 car seats

98 Honda Accord-used sporadically from when I got my licence in 01 and then drove it full-time after my mom inherited my dad's car. It was totalled in March .
2007 Nissan Versa-great gas mileage, versatile hatchback, really roomy-young, practical, but still cool, maybe?

1992 Dodge Aries (looked like a undercover CIA car, and did not go above 20 on hills---which was fun in downtown Seattle!)
1993 Dodge Spirit (loved this car, it was very cushy, totalled on honeymoon with first husband---a woman t-boned me)
1990 Nissan Sentra (beat up beyond belief, but handled the 2 hour commute like a champ, sold for more money then we bought it for)
1994 Nissan pathfinder (purchased in a moment of weakness when first husband and I decided we would never be able to afford a house so clearly we should have a new SUV...bad logic, he still drives it, I think...)
1993 Toyota Pick up truck (loved it, sold it to move to Florida)
1980 something Volvo (piece of junk....)
1994 Nissan Sentra (favorite car ever, this car was super, a dumb, dumb totalled it!!!! I still wish I had this car)
1993 Geo Storm (picked it up for cheap off a friend who was an exchange student and was returning to her country--reliable, cute)
1995 toyota truck (DH's ride, basic, functional, does the job)...

                              1997 Ford Escort (Age 16-19)
                              * beat the crap out of it, never changed the oil, pedal constantly on the ground and it ran like a champ and got 31mpg. Handed down to my brother who threw it under a car transport truck and nearly killed himself. He crawled out of thw rekc without a scratch.

                              2003 PT Cruiser Turbo (Age 19 - present (24))
                              * Its the car I love to hate. I did a couple go-fast mods and the transmission went at only 42k miles. Besides that, everything is good to go. Ill be daily driving this for at least the next 5 years!
