Sometimes when yo can get no satisfaction from a company you need to let others know just how mad you are!

Recently I ordered flowers for my 78 year old mother because she was ill. Since it was so close to Mothers Day I looked for an hour through all the lovely bouquets pictured on the 1800flowers website and decided on this beautiful bouquet of pink roses, pink lilies, pink carnations, gerber daisies, and a few others in a square pink glass vase with a pick that had a pewter picture frame. I thought "this it the one, she'll love it!" When she got the flowers she called to thank me and I asked her to tell me what they looked like. Guess what?! She got nothing like I ordered (and paid for!)! What she got was about a $5 grocery store bouquet in a cheap generic clear glass vase. No picture frame, no pretty pink vase, no roses at all! I was PISSED OFF!
So I called 1800flowers because they have a so-called "100% satisfaction guarantee". What a bunch of bull that is. They gave me 40% credit and sent me a coupon for next time. NEXT TIME? Oh, there's not going to be a next time. Not if they were the last flower vendor on the earth will there be a next time. I'm not 100% satisfied and I want 100% of my money back. No, actually they can have the 5 bucks the thing was worth! I've called, emailed multiple times and they don't want to talk about it anymore with me. So, I'm done with them and I intend to badmouth them to everyone I know and those I don't know as well (that's you)!
I just want to warn everybody out there that if you use these flower services make sure when you get the thank you call that you check to see that they got what you ordered. I really don't think people do that and that's why these companies are making so much money because you pay for one thing and they're sending something that costs much, much less! Stand up for yourselves and don't do business with companies that cheat you !
I only wish I had used my credit card to pay for the flowers and not Paypal because my credit card transaction could be disputed. I know Paypal has a similar process but it involves trying to work it out with the retailer. I've been trying that for 2 weeks now so I can't imagine it'll happen after Paypal gets involved, but I will still try. So another piece of advice I have is to use your credit card not Paypal.

I've had a similar experience with another big 800 flower company. As a result, I call the local florist in that area and deal directly with them. When I had my problem, the florist faxed to me a copy of the order they had received on their fax from the 800 company. While I had paid $50 for my order, what they in turn ordered from the local florist was a $15 arrangement, then they paid the local florist a $10 service fee. So, the local florist was not at fault.

Thanks for the warning. Keep fighting! Dont let these co's push you around! These co's that cheat people deseve all the bad press anyone can give them.
I'll give them praise when it is due, but the list I have of those who get an A + is short... Blick, Amazon, USAA, Kohls

I had a bad expereince with Sears .
I ordered a part for a sewing machine. They sent the wrong part.
Instead of issuing a call tag with UPS they told me I was responsible for sending the part back and normally they don't refund the shipping amount.
Imagine that!! They send the wrong part and I am supposed to pay to return it which would require a trip to the PO and they are trying to make me feel good by saying normally they don't refund shipping, but they will this time! It did no good to tell their customers service this was unfair.
I paid for this with my debit card and called USAA and told them I wanted to dispute the charges.
I got my money back and Sears can come and get their part or send UPS to get it. They tried to put the burden on me and I tossed it right back to them.

I feel the same way about them! I ordered my mom some "gorgeous" pink roses for her birthday 2 years ago - and the THINGS that came were so gosh darn ugly and pitiful. I thought they would at least "grow into" themselves or open up or something.. anything. But they were horrible from the moment we got them to the moment we finally threw them out. Even my mom had the courage to finally tell me "uh, baby, im so sorry but those are the ugliest flowers!" ...we had a good laugh over it. BUT I knew i'd never order from them again.

I specifically avoided 1800flowers last week at mother's day for fear of that happening again!

The problem with 1800flowers is that you aren't buying the exact flowers/arrangement that you see on their site. They do not "send" flowers but fulfill your order through a network of local florists. Due to this, you will often get differing flowers/arrangements and different levels of overall quality as well:

"Floral and plant gifts... are hand-delivered by a 1-800-FLOWERS store or another florist in your local area."

For this, and other reasons, I prefer proflowers.com, which ships the flowers direct:

"We send fresh from the fields and bypass middlemen, which means better flowers and a better value."

I've always had good luck with them anyway.

I ordered from them for a funeral the year they first came online. I was skittish about it since they had no reputation yet and out-of-town floral deliveries don't have a stellar rep, generally. But I saw the arrangement at the funeral and afterward at the family's home. It was gorgeous, much better than I expected even at best. However, your experience with them influences me more strongly than my own years ago positive experience. If you've gotten a bad product and in return, they only want to give you a discount on your next purchase, that is good enough to drive my business away from them. Thanks for the info.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience with 1800flowers, I've never used them and will be very wary in the future. I just wanted to tell you that you should contact Paypal and dispute your charges. You have tried to contact the vendor and if you have the emails to prove it Paypal will be on your side. I had an experience with an eBay seller, Paypal handled it well for me and I was able to get a complete refund.

Anytime I have had a problem with a company that couldn't be resolved with the company itself, I've reported them to the Better Business Bureau. Every time I have done this, I have gotten my money back. I did it when Nextel promised me one thing (a discount through my employer) and then refused to give it to me (I got a $50 credit after writing the BBB), and when DH joined a book of the month club which refused to let us out of our contract after we purchased the required number of books (which they then said didn't count) - after we contacted the BBB, we got out of the contract in less than a week. I have found that companies do NOT want unresolved complaints on their record. I bet that if you file a complaint asking for a refund, you'll get it. You can file on line if you go to the BBB website.
I only order from a local florist who my SIL works for, but this is good information to keep in mind if I hear others trying 1800flowers.

On May 8th 2007, I ordered flowers for My Mother from 1800Flowers. They were supposed to be delivered the next day (May 9th, 2007), well in time for Mother's Day which was May 13, 2007. On May 16th, I got as call from my Mom. SHE NEVER RECEIVED THE FLOWERS!!!!

I contacted 1800Flowers that night. After arguing with them for several minutes, a Supervisor finally cam on and promised TO DELIVER THE FLOWERS AND GIVE A FULL REFUND.

I never received notification of the delivery, and I never saw my bank account credited anything. I called my Mother to find out that they finally were delivered on Saturday (TEN DAYS LATE, AND SIX DAYS PAST MOTHERS DAY).

I called 1800Flowers today (MAY 22nd) to find out what happened to my refund, as was told that they never refund the whole amount if the flowers are eventually delivered. They claimed that they had nothing in the notes about it.

I demanded to speak to a supervisor, and when I told him that I would tell everyone I know how I was treated, I was told to do whatever I had to do.

So, I am here to tell people not to do business with this company. THEY LIED TO ME. They ruined my Mother's Mothers Day. They are not to be trusted, and I am telling everyone not to do business with them, unless they find such treatment acceptable.

Thanks for the heads up. Maybe sending flowers out of town isn't a good idea. If you want to send candy, I recommend Godiva. I sent some to some friends in San Francisco (I live in Illinois) and they were delighted. Yep, they are expensive for candy, but I firmly believe you get what you pay for.

When anyone sends me flowers, which isn't often, I take a photograph of them to send back either through email or snail mail so they know what they look like.

                            Always find a local florist

I had the same situation with them on Mothers Day, but simply cancelled the order and got the refund. My theory is support the local Florist. The Internet is a beautiful thing, and you can easily find someone on-line. I've had plenty of luck in the past.
