we pay to have our motorcycles and car serviced and that's about it

I took my dog to be trimmed once it cost 50 bucks I decided to start doing it myself, now every time I groom the dog I can declare a 50 dollar savings

I also cut every ones hair and declare I have save at least 8.50 after tax dollars LOL

once my mortgage is done I will probably hire more stuff out I just cannot justify it at this point in time ;-) We also figure we will have to pay for everything to be done when we get old so we do what we can do now ;-)

Once the mortgage is done, your savings habits will be so ingrained that you won't want to change them! When we were working on paying off our mortgage, I fantasized that I would go out and buy a bottle of Dom Perignon and whoop it up once the final check had posted. Instead, when that happy day came, we toasted with a glass of 2-Buck-Chuck, smiled little smiles of satisfaction, and then quietly went on with our lives same as before.

I agree 100% that as we all get older we will need more and more help and will need to hire helpers, so it's best to save as much as possible while we can in our younger years.

I don't mind paying for food and business courses. I love gaining knowledge and knowledge is an asset. So I don't mind that!

I have lots of 'little luxuries' that Ia m not giving up (like hot HOT showers)

But in the convenience market I was just talking to my husband about food that we will pay for vs. what we wont. We buy frozen blueberries it would be healthier to pick em or buy fresh but we don't quite want to go there, it would be cheaper to grow them but I have a brown thum (I can't even grow grass...) and cheaper to buy canned, but not as healthy...

So we find the level we are currently comfortable with, someday we may go healthier and get fresh or someday we may be in dire straights and go canned.

I find that getting out of the car and mortgage debt to be more important than time, not that I cut much hair or tend many lawns, I rely on ignoring the problem (Cars we do not ignore though, mostly in house)

            OT @ PricessPerky:
fresh blueberries are super easy to freeze and they keep for ages. buy firm berries, wash, blot dry, place on a cookie and place in the freezer. once the berries are individually frozen, pour them into a zip bag or other freezer safe container. i do this and add a handful of frozen berries to vanilla yogurt in the mornings. by the time i get to work the berries are thawed but have kept my yogurt cold enough to still be yummy!

but umm then you had to pay for fresh and find room to freeze them, and I thought my reading said that freezing is the problem, not the grade of frozen I buy...(which is mini berries, perfect for mini mouths- the kids, I don't eat them!)

              Though I appreciate the thought!

sorry about that! the way i read your post i thought buying frozen was a compromise between not having to find a way to eat several quarts of fresh berries in a week and not paying the high price for a tiny pint...
