  • What Are You Struggling To Not Buy?

Currently, I really want to upgrade my free Yahoo email account to Yahoo Mail Plus for $20/year because I love their disposable address feature. I know the money could be better spent elsewhere though. So far I've gone to the sign up page about three times without actually signing up.

I like the advice I read somewhere about writing your wants on a list and then waiting 30 days before buying it. Chances are you won't want it anymore at the end of the 30 days. This has happened to me on several occasions, and I was glad I hadn't bought certain items. However, it's been more than 30 days in this case, and I still want it.

Nothing of note right now - unless you count a new couch and I've got a savings account going for that - was just thinking this morning I need to start making a regular thrift store run to see if there is one there I'd be interested in - we have a 'high-scale' thrift here where I wouldn't mind bringing one home - however, in going there I open myself up to other items that strike at my wallet screaming to be taken home.

One way I've fought this 'urge to buy' on ebay is to just put things in my watch list and then keep watching...most things cycle off w/o my purchasing them. I just thought I 'HAD-TO' have it!

perhaps you should consider using a gmail address: it has something kinda like a disposable address free of charge.

      say you create an account:
      MyName @ gmail.com

then when you fill out forms online (say for freebies), you can use a variant:
      MyName+offers @ gmail.com

anything sent to MyName+offers @ gmail.com is delivered to your normal MyName @ gmail.com account.

then you set-up a filter so that anything sent to MyName+offers skips your inbox and goes directly to it's own folder, or even straight to the trash if you want!

let me know if you have difficulty, they may require to you receive an 'invitation'. if so, private message me your current email address and i'll send you an invite.

Interesting! I didn't know gmail did that. I have my own web host that just gives me admin control over my email accounts. I could technically create, modify, and delete as many email accounts as I want. But then, I also use it very privately, so I haven't gotten spam for more than 4 years now. Of course, this also costs me money, but I've already paid for it until 2010. I'll have to look into this gmail thang later today.

New furniture. I cleaned the living room today. I had all the lights on and all the pillows and throws in the washing machine. I can't believe how stained and faded that couch is.
