  • Thanks for the zip file tina! I will look that over more closely.

I agree on the multivitamin issue and the water points you brought up. I drink my 8 8oz glasses of water and I am rarely hungry...unless I wait to long to eat, but I am eating about every 3 hours. I do eat my veggies, milk, fruits and proteins. There's not much room if any for sweets and other unhealthy foods, such as chips. The chips must be where my grocery bill has dropped!! It's really the only thing that I cut out. I guess I buy less rice and bread...just eating smaller portions, so it lasts longer!

Tonight I'm having chicken, brown rice, a spinach salad with feta cheese, tomato and onion and with a few spritzes of salad dressing.

Once I lose about 3 more pounds I will start adding more milk back in. It will be strange to go from 1200 calories to 1750 or more depending on my exercise level. I just have to be careful to not add in the junk!

Great job on the two pounds Jan!!! Laceshawl...10 pounds is great and you are almost to your goal. Keep up the good work everyone!

    • glad to see this thread is still going along...
i've been doing ok keeping up my drinking water, taking vitamins, doing cardio... i was talking to my DH today and we agreed that the next thing we should try to work on was portion control... we both eat healthy but we do tend to eat more than we should, especially as we are already eating several "smaller" meals every day. We've also been trying with varied success to up our whole produce intake because we've found it keeps us from eating junk food if we have fruit/veggies to snack on....

      • Kealina, great job keeping on your plan. Portion control will definitely help!

I weighed in today and I lost 1.8 pounds this week, for a total of 19.8 total. Just this week I have surpassed my original goal of 145 pounds. I'm going to continue to count calories for a couple more weeks and see if I can't lose a few more...no more than 5, though.

It feels great to have made it this far and in a relatively short period of time!! I've made it exactly four weeks ahead of my goal and averaged about 2 pounds lost per week.

I can almost fit into size 8 jeans...well I did fit in them and was able to zip them...but just too tight!!

Keep up the good work everyone.

              • thanks credit card free...
we're still working away at it... we picked up 5 lbs each of apples, broccoli, and cauliflower when they were loss leaders and have been eating them raw and steamed for the veggies... we've been enjoying it as we've found that eating clean makes us feel better and that some fast foods/greasy foods will just make us feel sick...

I've been doing the regular cardio workout DVDs but i've been thinking about kicking it up by using resistance bands...
I've been trying a couple of different workouts using workout dvd's i picked up cheap at garage sales... also bought a brand new pilates resistance band for 0.50 a couple weeks ago. I've been using it to stretch lately among other things and been enjoying it... i read that those that are interested in yoga can download free video lessons online so i might try that when i want to change it up again...

i've decided my goal isn't so much a weight or number goal as it is a size goal... i've gained a few lbs (and it ain't muscle) over the past year and am on the verge of not fitting in my clothes. this is a big deal for me as i've been roughly the same size for 10 years so my goal is basically to slim down enough so that my clothes fit well again.

gee that rambled... been discussing health with my DH and we're both working on helping each other out...

                        • I just finished reading this whole thread and all I can say is WOW. I want to join in but I have a few comments. It seems that most folks here need to loose an average of 10-20 pounds I wish that was all I needed to loose.

This started out as let loose a person.... Has anyone figured out how much has been lost collectively so far?

Is there anyone who needs to loose over 100 pounds? If so I could really use some support and will be willing to give it in return.

kris10leigh brought up that she drinks half her body weight in ounces each day. IF I did that I would be drinking 137 ounces a day. You can do the math if you want. When I did it I cried. If someone were to drink that much water a day, aside from living in the bathroom, would it be healthy or can you drink too much water. I usually average 40-60 ounces a day.

I really need help I am a single mom to two young children who need their mom to be healthy. I do not do well on diet plans. and it is hard to exercise due to bad knees, breathing difficulties, and fibromyalgia. I know that I am making excuses but have got myself stuck in a rut and I feel bigger than the tow truck. Oh yah did i mention major depression. I know all of these things could possibly be eliminated with weight loss.

OK I'll stop the pity party. I am tempted to delete this, but I'm not. I hope I do not offend anyone.

                          • I lost 2.0 pounds this week for a total of 21.8 pounds. It seems a little on the high side considering I didn't eat to well over the weekend since I was traveling, my exercise has been minimal. However, I was sick yesterday so the numbers may be skewed due to lack of eating. Recovering today.

Nitajaye, welcome!! You have not offended anyone. We are all here to help each other regardless of how much we have to lose or even how we intend to lose it. I'm counting calories and it has worked for me. Some people look to eliminate a food or beverage from their diet and others just exercise.

It is my opinion that you need some calorie reduction and exercise. I have heard of people just starting with walking around the block...or even less and work up to more in time. There is definitely not a quick fix.

The exercise will help the depression tremendously. I went to the gym everyday during my husbands deployment to Iraq ( I lost weight then too) and I don't think I could have made it through that journey without it. When you feel better, you will make better choices.

Are your kids old enough to walk with you around the block? If they start to see this as a regular routine that you all do together, they might help you keep it up.

You also said you don't do well on diet plans. I don't say this to be critical, but if you say you don't do well then that is exactly what will happen. What you say you believe is what will be true for you. I would encourage you to save to yourself multiple times a day " I make healthy food choices." Once you say this over and over again, you will believe it and begin to actually do what you believe.

Best of luck...keep checking in...with anything positive or negative.

                              • nitajaye, my weight loss is very, very slow. I'm trying to change the small things and get them to be habits. By focusing on that, I'm trying to not get discouraged over not much weight loss. I feel that at least, I will start to be healthier. And that is a good goal. Little steps at a time is the only way I can do anything. Start with one thing for a week or two and then another. You can do it!
