I lost one pound this week. Can't complain about that considering I had a cold virus that knocked me out causing me to miss 4 days of working out. I'm back on the trail...I've been to the gym everyday this week.
I've kept to my goal of at least 4x/week on the treadmill. HOWEVER, I missed Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday (my week starts Monday, so technically I'm meeting my goal), and I haven't done a great job choosing good food. As a result, at my weigh in on Monday I gained 2 pounds (still down 5 from Jan. 1)
But, today is a new day. I ate well, and went on the treadmill for 31 minutes. Normally a 3 day slide would pretty much kill my motivation and I'd be back to my old self. But I refuse to let that happen this time, so I made sure I walked today.
Boy New Year's Resolutions are tough this time of year...Good luck everyone!
I decided to join you all. I thought about it earlier, figured I could handle it on my own and then gained four lbs. Good job LOL.
I watched the Academy Awards (never have watched the whole ordeal before), looked at all those skinny women and thought ... I know I will never look like that, but I certainly can look better. At least 12 lbs less will be better. So I'm in.
BTW, creditcardfree -- I've noted your progress and meant to tell you how awesome you're doing. Keep up the good work!
Vsjhoc, welcome! It is amazing how dropping 10 pounds can make a difference. Thanks for noticing my progress!
Mjrube94, step away from the ledge!! You are doing great today! Maybe you'll want to get back on that treadmill tonight and do another 10 minutes. Or tomorrow, try to walk a little longer on the treadmill. You will not fail if you just stick to it! And keeping 5 pounds off since January is great!
My motivation was my friend and her family. In November 2005, her parents, two brothers and three sisters made a one year committment to lose weight. They lost 500 pounds between the eight of them in one year. They were on Good Morning America in January 2007. Her Dad lost 100 pounds. He looks so great!
They exercised 30 minutes EVERYday. The dropped their caloric intake anywhere from 1200-1550 calories per day. They drank at least 8 glasses of water, had fiber intake of at least 25 grams, and protein of 65-75g per day. They weighed in every Saturday as a group. They also tracked their progress with pictures and videos. They bought a Diet Minder book to keep track of their daily calories. It worked for them.
So, now it seems to be working for me! I started out aiming for 1400 calories, but have dropped to 1200 calories per day. The first week is the hardest because you are so hungry and your body is adjusting. I felt the important thing was to have small meals thoughout the day so that I never get to hungry. I've done this for 8 weeks and have almost made it to my goal, so I know it works.
I haven't lost anything. But this last week, I've kept a food diary and calorie intake. I'm whittling it down little by little. Hopefully, it will help. At least I am making good choices again (most of the time).
oops! i guess i haven't checked in for awhile too... mostly because i've been up and down but i've been ok with... The weight has mostly been fluctuating with a four lb difference... as of this morning i'm 2 lbs under my start weight so that's pretty good...
i've been doing pretty well excercising since i scheduled time into my day for it... also been trying to drink more water... been doing pretty good with my eating if you don't count the occasional free leftovers (argh, potato salad) from family that keep sneaking into our diet because we hate to see them thrown away...
