I sell Veggie Tales DVDs and books via home parties. I do it more for the ministry angle than for the money. I am sure you could make money at it if you wanted but I am a SAHM who is pretty committed to doing just that. In December I came in second for the month (only first got a monetary prize)

In a way I do. I'm a comper and the wins I get help out with the family budget. Lots of little ones but they all help.

My husband is a builder, so we are self employed. I do all his bookkeeping by hand and pay all the bills. He builds custom homes and spec homes, but he likes the spec homes best because we get to make all the decisions.

I have some friends into MLM. Frankly, the sales pitch is extremely annoying and I am beginning to wonder if they are really our friends or just out to "sell" something. Turning your friends into "business contacts" or "network" taints the relationship.

my son makes money with an ebay store.. then he is one of the partners with his cousin, they dj at weddings, provide pix, made into dvd's with music, etc..
we are just bored doing the same ole same ole.............gargage sales are big money makers for us... we usually make $1300 for 3 days on the island, when the tourist are abundant...

My husband & I each own our own businesses. My husband works from his home office; I am home-based but spend several hours throughout the day away from home.

My suggestion would be that you either build on work you have already done for an employer and enjoyed and are good at (that is what my husband did) or that you pursue a favorite hobby or cause you are passionate about (that is what I did).

Just from our own personal experiences, doing something just to make money isn't going to be enough to give you the amount of drive you need to keep it going. It's best if it's an idea you come up with on your own, after thinking long and hard about what your talents, skills, and passions are.

I am not making a lot pet sitting, but I am starting to build a clientel.
I have a cat I am watching in Feb and a dog scheduled for June.
A few weeks ago I watched Maltese puppy and at Christmas I watched a cat.
There are a lot of people who are crazy about their pets and want personal service from someone they can trust.
If you like dogs and cats and are good with them, this may be something you could do for extra $$$.

I just started mine well I work as an IC but they say its a home based business I take calls from all over the united states hoping it works out great for the kids sake I would hate to have to pay for daycare ya know and mine are so spread out I have 3 constantly going in 3 different directions it makes it almost impossible to work outside my home. I am also trying my hands in ebay once again!!

i am constantly looking for ways to bring in more money. I have 4 websites (1 educational, 3 commercial) and an ebay store so far. My 2 oldest sites date back 2002 (an educational collie site and its sister store which provides collie themed merchandise via the cafepress infastructure) - those bring in a couple hundred bucks profit each quarter (pretty good since I have no overhead other than a host for the educational part of it

). One of my other sites is for themed pet gift baskets (just started it last September). For the past month I have been dabbling in selling name brand clothes on Ebay (we have a great thrift store here where I find tons of them - almost new - for only 1$ a piece).

p.s I also sold Mary Kay for a year. And..uh... fell into the envelope stuffing trap once (hahaha) but that was when I was 18.

sort of - I have a junque' booth at an antique mall. I price the stuff at home and keep all records at home, just run over once a week to stock items and straighten the booth. Actually have space in my basement to do this as an actual at-home business once I get my F-I-L's estate items thinned down some and my son's 'moving out soon' furniture out of the basement.

I don't think I'd be comfortable doing it full time in my basement unless I became busy enough to have another person on staff and present with me - which would likely be never in our small town. Maybe once The Hubster retires...but we once had a lady in our town who had a similar setup and she would open her store only upon occasion and run a weekend sale seven or eight times a year. She has since moved away.

Monitarily it is 'okay' money for the time invested. I've had checks as small as $25 after booth rent ($50) was paid and on up to over 350.00. Most fall in the 150-195 a month range, but it keeps me moving items thru my house - I've been a junk' collector for years so for a couple of years now have had lots of my own stuff to sell - I do occasionally buy items at auctions and thrift stores to resell.

I have a decorator's eye and have good display skills and have an inherant ability to price my items right so that they move quickly enough but are not always snatched the first day because they were underpriced KWIM?

I enjoy doing this - I can price stuff while I watch TV in the evenings, stock items on my normal errand day taking me about 20-30 minutes so it's no real effort. The store owner is on duty and I can be off doing other things making it a rather nice little almost passive income. Many of the other boothies have full time jobs and come in and restock on their lunch hours - easy.

I had to come up with the original $50 booth rental in cash, but have made enough sales every month to never have to cough up any more cash, as the booth is paying it's own way.
