  • January 2nd day of mourning for Pres. Ford

In case you hadn't heard, Tuesday January 2nd will be a national day of mourning for the passing of former President Ford. This means federal offices like the postal service, IRS, USCIS, etc will be closed.

I'm all for a national day of mourning to honor the president.....

What I don't understand is how giving everyone an extra day off on the tax payer's dime counts as mourning?

Honestly how many of them are going to do anything to honor the late president with their day off?

It is a good and decent thing to remember. President Ford saved us the agony of a Nixon trial and helped the nation back on course. It was a very bad time for us as a nation.

I don't know if the Federal Employees will honor the late President. I know I will honor him!

Yes, when a day is declared a national day of mourning, federal employees have the day off.

The next time your employer directs you to take the day off, please feel free to announce it on this forum so we can bash you for something that is out of your control.
