Re: No TV for one week?
I'm in, but my wife, son and in-laws may not play along.
Actually I went almost three years without TV and loved it. I suggest that you unplug it and put it in a basement or closet.
Good luck, and great idea. If you don't save $$$, then you will probably save brain cells.

Re: No TV for one week?
growing up our house was broken into and the TV was stolen. we went radio only for a couple of years and enjoyed it thoroughly.
even when we did get a TV set we only got 2 channels, so it was like not having TV at all! sunday mornings we'd turn the radio onto a jazz station and turn the TV onto the gospel singers but keep the sound off, so it would look like the folks on TV were singing and dancing to the jazz... yes, i am that easily amused!

Re: No TV for one week?
I suppose I could do it but getting the kids to join in would be near impossible. I tried to get them to have an electronic free. No TV, xbox or computer one day. Said it would be like camping at home. They lasted for 20 mins. Ahhhgg

Re: No TV for one week?
One of the families I used to babysit for did that -- there's a week in April or something that is national don't watch TV week or something. They did that every year.
We've done that before-- for a couple months-- but that was when we didn't have cable, so all we got was the local PBS station, and it was through static, at that. (But we got Netflix instead).
I can't do it now -- I'm hooked on Boston Legal & Grey's Anatomy.

I'll see you and raise you. I don't have a television.
My parents have 4 aging TVs, and insisted that I take one. So, that's how I ended up with one anyways... even though I don't even have it plugged in.
