  • Interesting Article: Companies recognizing the buying power of women

Bad title "What Do Women Want?", but interesting that it's taken this long for companies to realize who is most often at the budgetary helm. I found the last page to be my favorite: talks about blogs and fiscal responsibility a bit.

So those commercials that say that the best gift a man can get his wife is a plasma TV does have some truth to it. I'm just waiting for this part "women will earn more money than men if current trends continue by 2028" and the day that the auto dealer stop automatically up their price because of my gender.

That was an interesting read but it really was no big revelation to me! My wife picks out most stuff for the house and etc and so on.......

The wife decides what we eat uness I want to cook for myself which I do from time to time...

My wife generally makes the vacation plans so we go where she wants....no biggie........

9 times out of ten I just go along with my wife and there is peace in the valley...

The only time I speak up is when something strikes me as wrong or I feel deeply about something....such as spending beyond our means.........

My wife picked the cars..........she picked the electronic appliances(TVs/Stereos/Etc.),,,,,

My sisters always tease me by saying that women have always run the world. Women just let men think that they have a say! Whatever....just don't run the bills through the roof and I am quite content......

          Well, it's about time.

I read elsewhere (but forgot where) that women are starting to prefer plasma TVs over diamonds! Personally, I still can't wrap my head around that concept, but according to some article I once read, it's suppose to be true? Personally, I would love to see some poor sod try to propose with one. Oh yeah, I can just see the triple sting of rejection, a slap on the face, and a hernia all at the same time now.

Plasmas only last so long but diamonds are forever!

This article writes about women as big-time consumers. I do not identify with that at all. I would never attend one of those "parties" they describe, or an in-home consumer focus group, or a hotel hosted "bonding" and shopping day. Gag. That is not who I am. I am not a Purchasing Machine and my life does not revolve around acquiring, spending, looking for the most fashionable, supposedly cutting edge nuances in what I do buy.

Look, the wall paper in my kitchen is 60 years old and still performing its function. Yes, the kitchen is inconveniently arranged, but it serves well enough: it is not going to get rearranged or updated. Flat screen tv? That would be nice, but I'm not going to ditch a working TV to get any kind of new one. In fact, I wish there were still TV repair people around who might be able to keep this old one running. I don't have a food processor, finding my knives, and grater (now a "collectible" I'm told) serve just fine. My life just is not about buying, buying, buying. Have I even been to a mall lately? Last I remember was 2 summers ago when I gave a ride to my neighbors who live here only about one month a year and do not have a car in this town without much public transportation. I didn't buy anything, but I did enjoy spending my afternoon with these folks. They are professional dancers and I had a blast watching them bomb out and dissolve into laughter on the icon-cued dance machine (what are those called?) in the mall arcade. I remember what we did together; I don't remember what goods they bought or I looked at. It's just stuff. Life isn't stuff.

Court me as a woman for my money and I'm not so sure you are going to get far.
