Hehe. For me, the internet (more specifically, SavingAdvice) has helped keep me out of trouble. Rather than being "out there", where I have a greater chance of spending some money, I am here, talking about not spending it. That and the holiday shopping frenzy is kicking up. For the time being, I gladly play the role of a real life recluse / internet addict.
As for my previous challenge of switching to my new checking, my direct deposit isn't done yet. I talked to a company rep., and she told me that it could be another week or so before the direct deposit switch can be completed!
Also, I am still feeling the sting of having bought my glasses, largely because I don't want to let up on my bill payments.... Instead, I am continuing my pursuit of no-spend days.
In both instances, however, I am in no rush as everything remains steady as she goes.
- start the Christmas stocking stuffers shopping or at least get ideas (phone cards for college kids, makeup, etc.)
- finish up the last 2 kids' gifts (know what they want, just need to order them!)
- take my accounting exam
Got the last 2 done. The first goal is partly done. I did get some ideas, but not as many as I'd like.
- actually buy some stocking stuffers
- pay the balance of DS#1's college tuition I put on our CC this week
- remember to pick up Angel Food on Saturday so my money isn't wasted!
House deep cleaned for Thanksgiving company, exterminator out & spiders be-goned, junque' booth restocked w/more Christmas goodies (in the attic must get down), shredder fixed or replaced, room made in freezer in order to buy spiral ham for Thanksgiving, four Christmas items wrapped, get definite time set for Thanksgiving dinner and get ahold of the outlying family members who we only see/talk to at this time and give them the location for the meal (my house) and time to arrive, give out assignments &/or solicit which family will be bringing which items on the TG menu. See if the boys can or will have the giving of thanks day off. Make list of yard items that need to be taken care of before the guests arrive (four o'clocks taken down as they are slimy, wilty from freezing) - leaf bags to curb or to FIL's house for trashmen there to haul off - trash comes w/water service there. Start counting my blessings.
Okay, enough procrastination. Here's the weeks goals:
1. Find Rite Aid receipt and file for rebates. I seem to have lost the darn thing.
2. Take out $100 towards grocery budget and go back to using a cash only system for groceries and entertainment (I already have entertainment cash out). Debit card will continue to be used for gas purchases. CC for online Christmas shopping only.
3. Remain on my healthy eating plan.
I guess I'm really glad that I don't know any Girl Scouts!
yet another reason i don't shop at walmart: i get ambushed at cookie time!!! thing that gets me: walmart has a sign up that says "no soliciting" ?!??? apparently this rule applies unless you're 10 and selling cookies...
