Re: Beware: A Rant About Target

I love love LOVE Target. (I can't stand it when people call it "Tarjey"....snobs who think it's a hoot to slum at Target ).

I think the quality of the clothing is tremendous when you consider the style. For work clothes you can't beat the solid long and short sleeved v-neck cotton shirts and lovely slacks....simple and elegant. I have snagged some great raincoats and blazers as well.

If you (or your friends) are unhappy with an item return it as soon as you can. There is no reason i can think of too keep something unwanted in your home for 90 days. Clutter is a bad thing

There are no Walmarts near my home and the few times I have been in one I was quite repulsed by the dowdy merchandise and ugly displays of low quality merchandise. What do people buy there??

I agree with you about Target. As for Wal-Mart, we buy anything but clothing (though I have bought t-shirts that have held up just fine) and packaged items like name brand underwear. But for school supplies, electronics, batteries, toys and games, food items, etc., Wal-Mart sells the exact same items as other stores but for lower prices.

i agree the clothes at target are typically high quality for the price. shirts i have no issues with, but for some reason i can't wear any of their pants (how is an 8 too small and a 10 too big? and no, boys, a 9 won't work either ).

their womens shoes IMO are their biggest selling point. i've had $20 boots from target that lasted 6 years before a heel broke, and $10 sandles i wore until the soles split. in fact, the 2 pair of dress shoes i get the most compliments on are from target.

Lol! I thought I was alone at that one! but for me, pants fits perfect, it the jeans I can't wear because of the " 8 to small, 10 too big".

That's because women's clothing makes no sense. The numbers don't actually mean anything. An 8 from one company may be smaller or larger than an 8 from another company. Men's pants, however, are measured in inches. A 32" waist is a 32" waist. I don't even try on pants much of the time. I buy a 32/32 (waist and inseam) and they fit. I've never gotten a pair that didn't fit. It doesn't matter what store, what brand or what style.

I wish measurements could be that simple for the ladies as well as men. We are more complicated in that area as we can fluntuate weight depending on time of month and our waist can be either smaller or larger than hip areas. We have to look for the style of pants as well as the size.

um, steve? have you taken a tape measure to the inside of your pants waistband? i ask b/c i currently own 2 pairs of mens jeans, one 32/30 one 31/30, and i am admitting here in public my hips can barely remember the last time they were 32 inches!

i agree that there is consistency in men's pants (a 32 in one brand typically is equal to a 32 in another), but i don't think the number is truly representative of actual inches anymore.

Could be. I always just assumed it stood for inches but it might stand for something else. But whatever it is, it seems to be standard from company to company.

Re: Beware: A Rant About Target

Well, men's clothes seem to be more accurate in sizes than women's. Usually a 32 in men's pants is pretty close to a 32. Whereas a large in women's can be a someone else's medium or someone else's extra large. Of course when women's clothes go to a size zero, it makes me wonder what's going on? How can you be a zero in all reality?

                                I love target!!!!

I love target! I bought a bike there, ride it for about 3 months and then the brakes broke. I returned it and got full refund. No question asked....

I think they treat their employee better than wal-mart. Wal-mart is bad bad bad.... If I had to buy something there, I think I would definately do without...
