Can you charge your property taxes to your credit card? I am thinking about the 1% you can earn back on credit cards!

I just looked into that a few days ago. In my county you can, but they charge a 2.5% fee which outweighs any benefit. Try googling "whatever" county tax office and the website will probably say.

Oh, you are right, if they charge for it, there is no benefit.

Ima, couldn't you just write one of those CC checks to pay your tax??

There is no cashback for cash advances and no grace period.

Those checks usually charge a transaction fee also.

My tax office is very specific in that they only take personal checks, money orders, or credit card payments (with the 2.5% fee). They even say no third party checks.

                  It's a bummer.

                    Re: Property taxes

0% balance transfer checks allow you to write a check to yourself and deposit it into your bank account. Then you can write out your own personal check to pay the taxes. We have no balance transfer fees on the checks we have used so far. We received three HSBC checks with 0% interest to be used up to a year and Citibank allows one to write a check to themself. I believe Chase does too. We received a $5.00 credit twice for using the checks to balance transfer checks...even into our own bank account with Citibank Amex Dividend Card.

We have done this with 0% 6 or 12 month balance transfer checks. No interest and months to repay it!

Our high yield savings can remain intact and continue to grow when we do this.

Just my take on the situation.
