I donate(sell) plasma and make $200-250/month for myself. It won't solve all your debt problems, but it will give you some money and is much less harmful to your body!

You have lots of areas in your list that could be cut back to help balance the budget.

I would not allow my wife to donate eggs and go through the hormone treatments.
Donate plasma? What or how does that work? Where do they do these type of procedures? What are the eligiblity requirements?

My father died when I was nine years old. My mother was forced to work for the first time in her life. I walked to and from school and stayed by my self! Don't you think your daughter is old enough to stay alone now? Perhaps just a year or two of her going to public school could save you enough money to pay down your debts!

Re: Desperate Single Mom- EGG DONOR?

Here is the "flip side". My health prevented me from ovulating. My kids are test tube babies, and if it wern't for donor eggs, I would not have them. We tried the adoption route too--over seas adoptions were too expensive, waiting list thru family services were years long (unless we wanted a teen ager, and we wanted a baby or toddler), and private adoptions were too expensive. Yet the insurance I had at that time paid for me to receive donor eggs. Later, I did ovulate on my own, and was able to donate my eggs to myself (frozen till I needed them later) I thank god every day for the woman who donated the eggs for baby #1. (#2 and #3 I was able to use my own that had been frozen). I know what the hormones are like, having also been thru it--and, its really not that bad at all. I had no PMS-I did have to have my blood drawn daily so they could monitor my hormone levels to know when to harvest the eggs.
Would I do it for money?? Having been the infertile mother at one time, and knowing the anguish of not having a child, I very well may do it so that another woman could have a child to love.
BUT, I would sure get myself out of debt as quickly as possible. I would look at my finances hard-elimate what you can--May have to give up internet, TV, pets, trips that require extra gasoline, use powered milk when you cook. How old are your kids? Do you qualify for WIC or food stamps? Use the internet at the library (and possibly the AC-turn yours off-people lived without AC for thousands of years). I have been the single mom after my first husband left (with lots of bills), so I know something about it. I just remarried a few weeks ago, and we still live simply, so that I can now be a stay at home mom.
Dont live within your means, live BELOW your means. Good luck. I got out of the mess, and I have a feeling you can too if you apply yourself-its not overnight, so don't give up.

My oldest is ten. I would never leave her home alone. two weeks ago we came home and found a burgerly in progress at our home-it was around 6:15 p.m.. I live in the rural, on a farm 8 miles form the nearest town, polulation of under 3000. This is the Bible belt. I felt safe here.l 30 miles away 3 years ago they fould several dead young girls--never solved. Their killer is still out there somewhere.

I too walked to and from school-but, it was different then (I am in my mid 40's)

We have no idea where she lives. There are streets in Kansas City I would not even drive down-yet, I know that on those streets young children live.
My home can not been seen my the neighbors. Even if I were to call my kids to make sure they were ok (some employeers don't allow that) 5 minutes later something could happen.

Also a side note you want to consider about this that my sister didn't like. They give you the full amount and they send the goverment their little form. So you MUST claim it as income on you taxes, but they don't withhold anything. So depending on your income and all that, you can be hit with a large tax bill at tax time...plan for it if you need to.

Personally, my sister had not issue with donating. It was something she was able to do to help out her family finances. I am all for what other posters have said as far as trying to solve the problem and brake the cycle. It don't really matter how much you make so much as how much you spend. If you really feel this is a viable option and you've looked at the numbers, then you have to decided if this is just a temporary fix, if it is the problems will just return. That's the real issue. Run the numbers and see if you really could make it month to month...

Look at this site for FAQs on who, what, where, when, etc of donating plasma...http://www.biolifeplasma.com/en/dona...lasma/faq.html

This is not the only company out there. Check your yellow pages under Blood Donation or Plasma. You may want to contact a hospital in your area to see if they can tell you where one is located.

Many are located in University towns due to the large number of students who are in need of extra funds.

Thre process is very simple. After you go thru a physical, which is more of a question answer and gathering knowledge versus a true physical, you can then donate plasma. Plasma is the protein in your blood and can be seperated from the blood. Blood is drawn from a vein near your elbow after inserting a needle, and the plasma is seperated, this constitutes 1 cycle. Approx. 12 cycles are needed to get the required amount of plasma. It takes about 90 min. from the time I walk in until I walk out the door.

You are paid $20 for the first donation of the calendar week and $30 for the second. You may donate twice per calendar week, but no more than twice in any 7 day revolving period, (ie wed to tues). You cannot donate on consecutive days either.

I was a divorced Mom many years ago raising a son on my own with no child support.
For several years in a row my son went to camp WAMAVA in Front Royal VA
which was sponsered by the Church Of Christ.
They didn't charge me one dime. It was a ball for my son and a great break for me.
