Re: Really stupid CC payment question

Yep, that's it! Apparently I was named after a soap opera character. A character on some show got married and they flashed her wedding invitation across the screen when my mom was pregnant with me.

See for me it is easy to pay off a credit card in full. The highest monthly balance I have ever had on my card is 300 dollars.

I pay the statement balance -- they're not getting any more $ out of me until it's due!
        Eyes... glazing... brain... malfunctioning....

I don't actually look at the due date... or the payment amount. I just click the button that basically shows all the outstanding charges... and submit that amount. I do that every pay period... and that's it.

(Darn it. I had it all figured out when I was staying at the Holiday Inn Express, but now, I don't remember. )

I allot $240 a month to my credit card, so I try to never charge over that amount.

Cool, but you gotta make sure the due date isn't one day before your pay day. The CC companies have been shortening the grace periods. One of mine is now 14 days ...

I know what you are talking about, but I do it kinda opposite. I balance my checkbook and when I pay extra towards some debt I pay in a strange amount but just so that my register comes out even. So, for instance, I have $631.46 in my checking account and I am paying towards a debt that has a charge of $114.89, I will pay $131.46 so that I am paying off the debt earlier and end up with an even $500 left.

Isn't it strange how our brains work?

Vsjhoc, I do what Broken Arrow does so I know what he is talking about. If you pay every two weeks, then you never miss a payment due date. The only way this method fails is if your bi-weekly payment is half or less the minimum payment. For me it is always lots more.

Yes, send the extra $3.59. Every dollar and penny counts when paying off your credit card.

Good luck. Just think your balance will be $3.59 lower than if you didn't send it!

I think my brain hurts. It has been a really long week. At least it is payday.

I like the idea of paying an odd amount to know that the amout you owe is an even amount I think I might do that this month. I'm definatly in the hole about 800 CDN right now. Goes up almost 180 each month, with pre-auth payments ... eep.

Re: Really stupid CC payment question

I just noticed the grace period on my credit card got shorter and I wondered why. My Discover bill closes on the 4th. The next bill has always been due on the next 4th. Recently, I noticed that although I have the full amount withdrawn from my checking account every month, they are taking the money out on the 25th!!- even though they say the bill is "due" on the 4th. lynclarke

Yeah but they are probably taking the money out on the 25th, which is about 9 days before your actual due date. They are just taking the money out early, not late.

I know- but isn't that weird? I do not remember any notification of the change and the due date still says the 4th! Why don't they just say the 25th? lynclarke

Yes, I agree. The due dates are available online for me to see everytime I pay.
