  • Pro Tip: Switch to All Cash For Your Incidental Expenses

    All,

Here is another savings tip. Start paying cash for all your incidentals. You'll be surprised at how fast the cash starts piling up when you see it going out. You'll start to get a lot more choosy when you're buying extras.

i think if you use the envelope method and plan spending. But leave me with $20 in cash in my pocket or more and I probably couldn't tell you where i spent it

I think that's a good step for an early saver who is disciplining their habits and building skill. I'd add the step of tracking expenses/receipts and categorizing. Could be as basic as carrying around a register where you record your expenses by hand. (The modern way is via app, but that can be cumbersome/tedious and come with extra expense!)
      History will judge the complicit.

Sometimes I find I need to review and reimplement good basic habits.
