  • Deleted Messages- Jeff?

I often subscribe to threads, sometimes by replying, sometimes by specifically choosing to.

Sometimes when I click on the e-mail up date, the message that's in the body of the e-mail; is no longer on the thread. Up til now it's been obvious why-spam crud, or the people trying to post ING links, and the like.

But today, I had one and I can't see why the original message is gone. Could the original poster have deleted it? It wasn't selling anything, there were no links, it was a long time poster, there was no profanity, there was no mean spirited ness in my opinion. It was a mildy irritated response to a prior post.

I'm of a mixed mind; if the OP deleted, then fine. But I suppose I'd be extra cautious and a little concerned myself if the post was deleted by the Moderator.

    Thanks for your time.

Could be totally coincidental, but I did delete one of my own replies earlier, and I see now that it's gone altogether. I think there was one other reply in the same thread where the person deleted their own reply, and now it's gone too.

Or this may have nothing to do with the thread you're talking about, in which case disregard me here.

Not coincidental. Just didn't mentoin you by name because....well, I just didn't.

Thanks for the answer, I'm awfully glad it was poster-deleted not moderatpr deleted.

I agree with your deleted post, by the way. I got riled up, then calmed down a bit. Which is what I'm suspecting happened to you.

Yes, unless it is against our stated rules we will not touch it. Everyone that posts has the option of deleting their own posts and while this doesn't happen often, it does from time to time for a variety of reasons. We believe that differing opinions is an important part of learning about personal finances and it's important to get different view points, so even if we may not agree with a post, it would never be deleted for that reason.

          Ahhh...mystery solved.

Yeah, I wrote, edited, wrote, edited...ultimately, it felt better to delete my post entirely. Sometimes it's just not worth the pixels.

If I come across posts where the person deletes their own post, then I will usually take the entire post out of the thread -- I never really thought about whether this is good or not (it simply makes it easier to read) and may have to rethink this...

That same thread almost got me to snark. I almost posted then edited then waiuted then edited then said heck with it. What I wanted to say was "Be nice!" but I couldn't do it without scolding. Drink cocoa, lrjohnson, drink cocoa.
