The Livestrong yellow bracelet a symbol of fighting cancer sponsored by the Lance Armstrong Livestrong foundation in support of those who have survived this terrible disease. "..your survivorship begins on the day of diagnosis, we understand that living with cancer is more than a medical experience. Finding easy to understand information that you can trust is sometimes challenging and overwhelming. We offer you information that helps you to live strong through the physical, emotional and practical challenges of your survivorship.

Millions of people have watched Lance Armstrong not only survive cancer, but go on to compete in and win the Tour de France bicycle race a record number of times. In this past year's race, many people noticed the yellow bracelets that a number of the riders wore on their wrists, and wondered about the story behind them.

This charitable campaign is called the Livestrong WearYellow and is sponsored by the Lance Armstrong Cancer Foundation together with Nike. In an effort to raise $5 million for the Lance Armstrong Cancer Foundation, the yellow bracelets were sold at the end of each leg of the race.

The campaign has been far more successful than the initial goal of $5 million. To date, over 9 million yellow bracelets have sold to date. Many prominent people including Olympic athletes, politicians and celebrities have been spotted wearing the yellow wrist bands. This has been a great asset in the Lance Armstrong Foundation's effort to provide financial support by raising money for medical research and psychological support.

The income generated from selling the Livestrong wristbands goes to the Lance Armstrong Cancer Foundation, the organisation anxious giving this support. You can order the yellow bracelets directly from the organization through the LAF Store. Due to their popularity, there is a wait of several weeks to receive them. They are also not sold individually with the smallest quantity that can be ordered being 10 bracelets.

Due to this, a large resale market has developed. While the Lance Armstrong Cancer Foundation does not receive any money on the resale of the bracelets, they did receive a $1.00 for each one that makes it to the resale market. If you want all the money you spend to go to the Lance Armstrong Foundation, you should purchase the bracelets directly from their store.

If you purchase a yellow bracelet on the resale market, you are still supporting the cause. As long as there is a resale market, individuals and business will continue to purchase the bracelets in bulk from the Lance Armstrong Foundation raising more money for it. If you'd like to support the LAF in this way, you can purchase single yellow bracelets here.

Cancer can be a killer. Lance, however, is a jerk no matter how great a cycler he is. I would support other cancer organizations.

They sell these across the border in Mexico. For something like 50cents. I haven't compared them to see if they are obviously counterfeit, but be suspicious of any you buy from a retailer.

This goes for all the bands that they sell. Yellow, pink, black, etc.
