  • Mosquito Control

I live in the Southeast, and mosquitos are a problem here. Although I don't have any standing water nearby, it is so humid and moist that the little buggers just thrive. I love to be outside in the evening, and always have to fight the mosquitos - they even get into my screen porch. I use citronella candles, skin so soft, bounce fabric softner sheets, and even an electronic gizmo that is supposed to sound like a dreaded dragonfly, but still have mosquitos. Does anyone know of any other means of mosquito control? I'm most interested in a low cost, non toxic method.

You've got to use DEET unfortunately for best efficacy. You can try rubbing some diluted clove oil on your skin but that's expensive.

If they are getting inside a well screened porch I'd find the holes and plug them first. Stop the infiltration. Then kill the ones that are inside. I know there are exxpensive gizmoes that attract the misquitoes and trap them, but I don't think that is what you are after. I too have a mesquito problem and I really haven't found a good answer either. Once they appear, I don't spend too much time out on the porch, at least yours is screened.
