Does anyone else here play Wordle? It's a simple word-guessing game in which you get six tries, all the words are 5 letters long, and you only get to play once per day. The game was created as a hobby and was hosted free by its creator. No charge to play. It became wildly popular with the user base reaching the millions in just a couple of weeks.
Here is a link to the game:

The New York Times just bought the rights/source code for the game "in the low seven-figures". Talk about making some handsome money via hobbies. I have to imagine its creator, Josh Wardle, is pretty happy with himself!

I've never played, but I saw the headline that it was bought today.
Pretty interesting that something so simple is a million dollar idea.

I found it refreshing. It's so simple. Non-violent. Doesn't require understanding some elaborate plot. Just guessing words. No ads. No app. I sounds like I'm plugging for it, but it's rare to find something so... wholesome? these days. lol

I just got into it last week. I like it! Mostly I like that its 1x/day rather than something you can get sucked into playing for too long. Kind of disappointed to hear the Times bought it but I guess I'm not surprised. Maybe they're finally going to persuade me into that digital subscription.... I already do the times mini crossword every morning, but that is currently free unlike their other games.

I've been playing daily since I heard of it.

I love it. And I love that it's one and done. I usually get it in 3 or 4, but I've had a few twos. The first word is the key to it all.
