As seen on the What's Trending Facebook page: Melania Trump reads 'Oh The Places You'll Go' to sick children and is torn apart by internet trolls.

    Pretty sad

Personally I enjoy reading the finance, savings and debt stuff the most here, but I feel like I don't have the much to contribute in terms of advice and am more passive there.

I find myself commenting most on these little side and unimportant articles because I am afraid that this is site could become a bit of an echo chamber of things I strongly disagree with -- and I think it is important to show that there are mixed opinions -- not just one side here and participating on this site.

I'd be happy not to have to do this and only focus on finance. But I know finance and politics are often closely related.

But for me the pee in the pool and this stupid tee shirt as well as the bit about Melania are distracting and have nothing to do with the topic at hand. I'd be happy to participate in a poll that communicates this to 'the powers that be' as well.

But if that is actually why people come to this site, that's info that the site owners need to consider moving forward.

Perhaps they need to poll users to find out what brought them here and what type of content they are most interested in seeing. For me, I'm here for the personal finance stuff. I'm not the least bit interested in celebrity news, random facts, politics, or anything else that has nothing at all to do with finances.
Steve, where is it that anyone has suggested that they sought a personal finance forum to read non financial stories? Or where was it implied? It certainly wasn't stated or implied by me.

It is pretty safe assumption that everyone on this forum joined first and foremost to discuss personal finance topics. However, that doesn't mean that people do not have other interests that they would like to share or discuss. And who wants to go to 10 different sites to discuss every specific topic they is on their mind that day?

And since this is being brought up about what type of threads people want and don't want to see, I suspect that there are people that feel some of your threads to clutter up board with unnecessary information. Some of your threads are more appropriate for a BLOG than for their own thread. Pretty much every single thing of your life that has any financial aspect about it, you create a thread for. Not topics for a broad audience to openly discuss. Just you blogging about your life on the forums instead of actually creating and posting on a blog.

        First 2017 Roth contribution made
New job status starts next week
        College Textbooks - Year Three
        Maxed 2016 Roth contribution
        Minor DIY success

The examples are abundant in your 500+ threads you created. Instead of creating an "Official 2017 Roth IRA" thread, you created one announcing YOUR first contribution.

Take a minute and consider just how cluttered these boards would be if EVERY member posted threads the way you are.

Storm, your comments to Steve are just another example of what is going wrong in this forum. Steve is actually one of the people who has been of great assistance to me in, you know, financial issues... what we are all supposedly here for. But I guess we now all know that you have to post your garbage here because I doubt anyone would tolerate this behavior for long on sites like facebook.

Also, you post, on average, over 10 posts per day Storm. Steve is far less than that and he is a moderator. So hmmm. ..looking like you create far more clutter, huh?

If this is what the forum is, all Storm all the time, I don't need to be here much longer at all.

How odd that those are the threads you chose to attack.

This is a PERSONAL FINANCE forum. Every one of those threads is about a PERSONAL FINANCE topic: retirement savings, job and income issues, college costs, etc.

In comparison, here are some of your recent threads:

Ridiculous news story of the day
What type of checks do you have
Need help appraising a 1964 Ford Mustang (this was a joke, not a serious question)
              Women keeping their maiden name
Poll: Can Hooters food stand on its own without the hot girls theme?

Except for the possible business effect on Hooters, which isn't exactly a personal finance issue unless you are invested in the company, nothing there has anything to do with personal finance.

              Who is cluttering the boards?
              Steve

              * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
              * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
              * There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

Thank you Brian. I didn't realize that.

It would be nice if a banned poster's posts disappeared when they were banned.

                    That is possible I believe.
Let me look into the backdoor of the site and see what I can do about that.
