Do you think he can do what's he's planning? http://www.npr.org/2016/11/09/501451...first-100-days

    1. Impose Congressional term limits - this would be nice but sounds like congress surprise surprise don't support his

    2. Federal Hiring Freeze - would it really help? Who would quit?

    3. Require existing regulations only after 2 go away

    4. 5 year ban on official being lobbyist - would be nice

    5. lifetime ban on WH official being foreign lobbyist

    6. ban foreign lobbyist for american elections

    7. Renegotiate NAFTA or leave - could this be done?

    8. Withdraw TPP

    9. China currency manipulator - what would this do to financial markets?

    10. US worker abuse

    11. Lift restrictions on oil production

    12. Keystone pipeline move forward

    13. Cancel payments to UN for climate change

    14. Pick Supreme Court Justice

    15. Cancel funding to sanctuary cities

    16. deport criminal illegal immigrants

    17. suspend immigration from terrorist countries

    18. middle class tax relief - could he really simplify the tax code? Would cutting the corporate tax from 35% to 10% stimulate the economy?

    19. End offshoring

    20. American Energy and Infrastructure

    21. School Choice

    22. Replace and Repeal Obamacare - curious with what? I'm loving this because I think it'll blow up american healthcare system permanently and we'll have to make tough choices.

    23. End illegal immigration

    24. Restore community safety

    25. Restore NSA

    26. clean up corruption - drain the swamp. I will eagerly await this.

Do you think he can get a republican controlled congress to follow his lead? My DH thinks there will be push back from republicans against what he wants.

He has the House and the Senate, so pushing through at least some of this should be feasible.

Some of those items are absolutely possible. He will hold either the authority or the influence to be able to do things like label China a manipulator, lift some petroleum production regulations, get the pipeline progressing, renegotiate NAFTA (Canada actually came out yesterday expressing an openness to this), name the USSC judge, cancel TPP & some foreign payments, .... Realistically, the president has a great deal of power available to him, if exercised. Other items will require the cooperation of Congress, like most all of the various reforms he's calling for. Term limits won't happen, because congressmen are unwilling to vote themselves out of a plush job.

So overall, it's a mixed bag. Likewise, the effect for good that all of that may or may not have is often debatable. The tax reforms are a good example. Lowering corporate taxes & introducing import tariffs could encourage the repatriation of alot of money & jobs that have been outsourced over the past few decades. It could create jobs and boost incomes for many families. It could also just serve to line the pockets of corporate executives who haven't expatriated chunks of their companies overseas. In all likelihood, both would happen, to varying extents.

I'm curious about lowering the tax rate and repatriating jobs. I hear some economist saying it won't bring manufactoring jobs back because some of it is due to technology. That we need less workers. And even with the lower tax rate it still is more expensive than other places.

I'd also like to see a flatter tax rate. Probably be good for me. I'd love to see the term limits and limitations on lobbying. Of course that will never happen because Congress would never limit themselves.

I was watching CBC and saw that about Nafta. It didn't sound like Canada is that interested in negotiating to US advantage.
