  • Do you mail greeting cards?

Do you send greeting cards by mail? I still do so for birthdays, especially, but for other occasions once in a while-- graduation, holiday, and just once in a great while a "thinking of you" type card. I send them to the same people I'd phone or email.

Yes, I do. I don't send as many as I once did. And like you, primarily to the same people who I would also call or email, and who tend to reciprocate. I think people do like to get 'fun mail'.

I try to keep my costs down and buy inexpensive cards when possible.

I can't remember the last time we mailed a greeting card. Maybe for an event like a wedding that we weren't able to attend but I can't actually recall doing that anytime recently.

To be honest, I have always found greeting cards, at least those purchased in stores (not homemade) to be a horrible waste of money. When I receive a card, what do I do? First, I open the envelope very carefully to make sure there's no glitter on the card. If there is, I don't even take it out of the envelope and it goes straight into the recycling bin. If it is glitter-free, I pull it out and give it a quick glance and then put it in the recycling bin. There goes $3 or $4 or more of that person's money. For what? What did that accomplish? I'd much rather receive an email or facebook message from them or a phone call from those closest to me.

We have gotten away from this sort of thing due to electronics, texting, email, etc. but I think a hand written note received by mail is a very thoughtful gesture. It shows that someone sincerely cares and took a little extra time to do something nice.

Do one of these occasionally, and you will stand out from others.
It costs very little, takes very little time, but may be greatly appreciated. It doesn't have to be an expensive store bought card.

Yes, I do! In the past month I have mailed birthday, graduation, and bar mitzvah cards. And I have a "wishing you a speedy recovery" card ready to mail on Monday with a small gift for a relative who will be undergoing surgery soon.

I usually buy cards in the $1-2 price range.

I like getting cards and display them on the fireplace mantle.
            I may be old-fashioned and I don't care!

I am the same as disneysteve when it comes to getting cards. What a waste of money! I only keep ones with super-sentimental notes.

I do send cards to the older generation, who seem to appreciate them and I always send thank you notes. Bought at the dollar store for 50c

I do send them, but only for the holidays. Cheaper than buying a gift, but they still know they're in your thoughts... that's how I look at it. They probably see it as "darn, no real gift". But whatever, lol.

Yep to nieces and nephews and to sibs for milestone birthdays.

And geez people the $ tree sells cards 2 for a $1 so not a lot of money, including the postage it's just a little less than a dollar to make someone's day.

No. I will often make a cuter than average note though and add a few stickers if it is a special occasion

I hate buying cards to give or mail. The prices for a stupid piece of paper is insane.
