ua_guy, how does traveling with a dog work in an RV? Are you able to stop and sight see or are you pretty much stuck to the RV with the dog? I've been throwing this idea back and forth for a trip this summer just to be able to go somewhere and was thinking it would be fun to take the dog but not sure how much it would stop us from doing what we want to do.

We are making our way back to the West Coast... Washington or Oregon. It was a combination of things including discussions of his job converting to 100% remote as well as him coming to the realization that after a year it's still not a good fit for us. Covid is making this really difficult so there isn't a set timeline, but, we are extremely concerned about the housing market and think we should pull our money out of a property somewhere we don't intend to stay long term. The going is good right now.

My perspective is a little different because our dog is our companion and so he is included in all aspects of our trip and he also has some special needs where he really can't be left alone. I would say if you would need to leave the dog alone for the majority of your activities, it might not be the right fit? Feel free to PM if you have specific questions. "RV" is a broad category--traveling in a motorhome versus towing a travel trailer is slightly different and the situations they can accommodate vary pretty widely.

So you are just going to pack up and look for somewhere else to move? Or stay where you are locally and rent?

Good question. The plan is to get back to Washington. We've got the house ready to list but have paused on hitting the "go" button for a few days while we talk through what the next thing should be.

DH does just fine with uncertainty whereas I need a strategic plan. He says list the house, we'll figure it out. I say, I need to know exactly where we're going before we do anything. In 16 years, we've always found a healthy middle ground.
