  • If you had to blow $100K on a depreciating asset...

What would it be? Rules are you must spend the whole $100K on a material item for your use, and if you only spend $80K you don't get change back. No real estate, and you can't re-sell the item later, donate it, or bequeath it to heirs.

I would likely opt for a gently used red Ferrari 360 Stradale with F1 paddles and tobacco interior.

Does this really go in "Investing and Banking"?

Anyway... it's been so long since we've been anywhere near having lots of disposable income that doesn't already have a dozen critical tasks waiting to be paid for that I wouldn't know what bit of fluff costs $100K.

I agree this should go somewhere else. A new category...."WHAT IF I have $100K BLOW MONEY"
      Got debt?

Actually, you might be asking the wrong group of people this question...

I couldn't figure out how to spend 100k so I paid off debt to protect myself from doing something stupid

If its just a single material item that makes the list short...not many material things that most people would want that costs $100k. Id probably go with a high end tesla.

If it didnt have to be on a material item I would take a world tour vacation with my wife for a year or so. I think we could live pretty large traveling the world on $100k.

              I'd buy 100,000 $1 bills.

The Tesla is nice, plus you wouldn't have to buy gas. I'm guessing $100K would get you a hard-loaded one.

Given those guidelines, I'd buy a motor home.

If you change the rules to include experience purchases, I'd take a circumnavigation cruise. It's on my bucket list.

I've always thought a RV would be REALLY cool to have, if someone else is paying for it. Just fill it up with diesel and take off to Montana or somewhere.

                    I like it.

Interesting, I can't think of any material item that I want inside $100k.

But, maybe if a cheap, helicopter comes up like R-22 and I get $100k off, I would (without consulting wife) put in the balance with my own money. Does that count?

One thing or more than 1 thing? Multiple things? two cars. 1 thing? A boat.

Probably a fancy new farm tractor or backhoe

I guess a Tesla because I cannot think of one material thing I would want that costs that much. Even if real estate was an option, I wouldn't even want a small cabin I'd have to take care of. I would have a very hard time handing over the cash even if I was swimming in it.

Tesla - My next car purchase will likely be an electric vehicle, and getting a Tesla would just be a BIG upgrade over the makes currently under consideration.
