  • Birthday gift for broke family member

My younger sister is so broke, lots of student loans, personal loans, credit card debts, etc. Her car just got repossessed too.

She's about to turn 24. She's not earning a lot of money. She is a spender. Sometimes she doesn't have enough money to buy food. She always ask for money but I stopped giving a loan. She is worse than paycheck to paycheck. I tried to help her by offering her Financial Peace University by Dave Ramsey. She declined.

The last couple years, I just treat her dinner. Last christmas, I gave her Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey, not even sure if she read it.

I want to give her something but I don't want to be enabler. I'm thinking of maybe just Grocery Store Gift Card maybe worth for 1 month of her groceries.

    Any good ideas?

You could also buy her some groceries. Go shopping together maybe. Some people will sell gift cards for cash (or drugs..not to say that is your sister), so sometimes it is better to just give the actual gift.
My other blog is Your Organized Friend.

I like the idea of shopping for groceries together, grab lunch. Maybe bring up the topic of finances once and if her reception is cold, drop it and try to have a fun conversation catching up since it is her bday.
